No shadow
No stars
No moon
No cars
November
It only believes
In a pile of dead leaves
And a moon
That's the color of bone

No prayers for November
To linger longer
Stick your spoon in the wall
We'll slaughter them all

November has tied me
To an old dead tree
Get word to April
To rescue me

November's cold chain
Made of wet boots and rain
And shiny black ravens
On chimney smoke lanes
November seems odd
You're my firing squad
November

With my hair slicked back
With carrion shellac
With the blood from a pheasant
And the bone from a hare

Tied to the branches
Of a roebuck stag
Left to wave in the timber
Like a buck shot flag

Go away you rainsnout
Go away, blow your brains out
November

Tom Waits - November

Quote:
"The Bravery Of Being Out Of Range" - Roger Waters

You have a natural tendency
To squeeze off a shot
You're good fun at parties
You wear the right masks
You're old but you still
Like a laugh in the locker room
You can't abide change
You're at home an the range
You opened your suitcase
Behind the old workings
To show off the magnum
You deafened the canyon
A comfort a friend
Only upstaged in the end
By the Uzi machine gun
Does the recoil remind you
Remind you of sex
Old man what the hell you gonna kill next
Old timer who you gonna kill next
I looked over Jordan and what did I see
Saw a U.S. Marine in a pile of debris
I swam in your pools
And lay under your palm trees
I looked in the eyes of the Indian
Who lay on the Federal Building steps
And through the range finder over the hill
I saw the frontline boys popping their pills
Sick of the mess they find
On their desert stage
And the bravery of being out of range
Yeah the question is vexed
Old man what the hell you gonna kill next
Old timer who you gonna kill next
Hey bartender over here
Two more shots
And two more beers
Sir turn up the TV sound
The war has started on the ground
Just love those laser guided bombs
They're really great
For righting wrongs
You hit the target
And win the game
From bars 3,000 miles away
3,000 miles away
We play the game
With the bravery of being out of range
We zap and maim
With the bravery of being out of range
We strafe the train
With the bravery of being out of range
We gained terrain
With the bravery of being out of range
With the bravery of being out of range
We play the game
With the bravery of being out of range

I love the Smashing Pumpkins, but I can't listen to them without getting depressed. 26 years old and looking for my second youthful age like many of you guys, feel like I wasted my first.

I saw the Pumpkins back in '94-'95. I was 25 at the time. One of the worst concerts I've ever been to. It was awesome. A band out of Chicago called "Red Red Meat" opened for them. They were awful.

The Pumpkins opened up with the car chase from "Bullit" on the stage screen. The volume got louder and louder until everyone was holding their ears. Seems like they broke into "Cherub Rock" right at the start.

Back then I was a long haired guitar player with stars in my eyes. My band had about seven originals and then life happened.

At 26 your life is just about to start. Make your choices for the right reasons and you won't go wrong. I'm still chasing my youth. The difference is I feel it more the next day than I used to.

Yeah, I'm trying to turn myself around, going to college, but
i feel so old. I know 26 isn't old but there is a palatable difference in attitude between me and those in my classes straight out of high school. I gravitate towards those in class who have been in the military or held a long term job before school. Although I loved many of the times I had, I feel like the Marine Corps was the wrong direction for me to take out of high school and now I'm playing catch up. All my friends from my school days have grown up and moved away. And I feel it's not just me, as a child of the 90s I feel the world has changed. I now this is a joke, but it seriously makes some sense (funny thing is I'm a conservative Libertarian, too):
It really does seem like during the 90s everything seemed so hopeful, that we could fix everything, you could be what you want. Then it was like 9/11 and everything got serious. What are you going to do with your life and in 2008 I'm being yelled at and 2011 I'm on a plane to Afghanistan.

Maybe this sort of feeling of not regret, but felling things could have been different is a natural part of becoming an adult. As a child you really have no sense of consequence and you always seem to regret it when you're older.

You care for Woody Allen movies? See "Midnight in Paris". It says a lot about rose colored glasses.

I mean, I remember back when I was in school, all we had to worry about was nuclear annihilation by the Soviets. Good times, man ... good times.

But the 90s was between the Nuclear Annihilation of the Cold War and the Nuclear Annihilation by Terrorists/Rogue State... Oh rose colored glasses.

But seriously, it wasn't about the reality of the situation of the 90s (come one I remember the whole scares about former soviet scientists and nuclear/biological/chemical weapons), it was the attitude. Like everything was good, the future was bright, we could solve everything.

And the funny thing is how the world seems to have gotten so serious, yet kids these these days seem so uninterested in not only the world around them but their own future. Like when I was growing up, kids were optimistic but had a sense of current events, but now kids seem pessimistic and amblivious towards everything, which seems contradictory.

That's because we had lots of flannel, good coffee, and the Seattle sound.

Oh, and we were all idiots.

Quit playing 90s bands that make me feel nostalgically depressed.

Not 90s, but close and one of the last good metal songs.
Or 90s, great song, video is pure sex.

Hang on a sec while I spin up some "Hanson" or "Creed" for you ...

That'll end your love affair with the '90s.

Creed had some okay songs. You know I never have heard a Hanson song, avoided them like the plague, like the Spice Girls and Brittany Spears.

I take that back, just tried to listen to one of there songs after years, they're bad vaguely C-rock.

Here's a good one for you:
Ironically, I was pulled over and given a citation (appearance in court) for speeding while listening to song on my way into Las Vegas. Never did appear in court, to the best of my knowledge I still have a bench warrant in Nevada.

Sure Marley sang lead on more songs because he wasn't able to harmonize as well as bunny and Peter. Those early records have some great harmonys though. Really great vocal group
