1. I like that my musical tastes have recently met with Aussie approval
2. Vader... That is some quintessential 80's west coast pop if I ever heard it. Where are they from? My entry for the day is surely a repost, but still makes me smile for miles. Great song, horribly campy video: |

My daughter has discovered punk-pop so I've been trying to introduce her to the classics and precursor bands.
Never saw the video for Punk Rawk Show before, but it's got some some good vintage scooters in it, so I figured that was worth a post. |

Chandler , it sounds like you have a cool daughter. Congrats. I'm sure she's heard ALL? |

Perhaps surprisingly, ALL is new to me, but they're good stuff for sure.
Last night was pretty heavy on the Blink182 family tree. Starting from the Aquabats |

Young girl...
Pop punk.... I'd go Me first and the Gimme Gimmes. Cover songs she'll know will get her hooked. Then the Get Up Kids. After my time, but Taking Back Sunday was big with the ladies. All the bands my high school girlfriend liked. |

After my time, but Taking Back Sunday was big with the ladies. All the bands my high school girlfriend liked. I need to play her some old No Doubt, too, for strong women, even if I loathe the whole Hollaback stage of Gwen Stefani's career. She's already a fairly accomplished guitarist, even if she hasn't learned to play with others yet. Sadly, she inherited her singing voice from me, so even with vocal lessons, there's going to be an upper limit there. And she wants a scooter too. What a cool kid I may have to take on a smallie project because she literally can't start the VBB--she can stand on the kickstart lever without it moving--and the Stella has electric start, but it's just too big for her. |

I think being in Evanston (my buddy lives there too) you're obligated to take her to a Screeching Weasel show.

I love Junior Brown. I used to see him back in the early 90's in Austin when he had a standing gig at the Continental Club.
We're seeing Kacey Musgraves up in Milwaukee in a couple of weeks. We saw her here in Chicago a few months ago and got to meet her before the show. Despite having 50 people or so to meet & get pictures taken, she took the time to talk to my daughter for a few minutes and gave her a big hug. Totally cool chick. We got right down on the center of the rail for the stage, too, so I got to spend the entire show fighting to hold that space. Good Times. |

Too curvy for a Rally...
Definitely not a Lambretta... Not a widebody either.... Maybe a GS? [/b] |

I loved Ice T's music in high school. One of my favorite Ice T moments was when he went on Oprah with Tipper Gore and they talked censorship and the PMRC. Jello Biafra was also on the show. It was awesome.

back then....
this just came on the radio. memories of 9th and 10th grade, when most everyone else was wearing metallica and van halen shirts.
the few who knew about and listened to other stuff back then were immediately "weird" |
