I have to wonder about my maternal grandfather who fought in WW I. He lived through that but passed away at only 56 years old, eight years before I was born. Often wonder if that was because of something that happend during the war.

Saw him perform it at the (then) little Unitarian Universalist Church in Atlanta about 1986 to a sell- out crown of about 100.

One of the best guitarists you may have never heard of (but should have) is gone. Jess Barr of the great Denton band Slobberbone has passed on. Only 46. Not only a great guitarist, but also a great, kind guy. RIP amigo.

Jess had a signature bit of kitsch... when he'd cut a good solo he would point straight up with a slight, mirthy smile. It was gold bc it was so campy but genuine... so authentic... A "Jess Barr Point" is captured here at about 1:45 in the link below. Godspeed Jess.

Been a life long fan of John Waite. I first saw him many years ago in the Babys. His acoustic stuff is amazing. A very under-rated songwriter and storyteller.
