So on the way back from AV we stopped in Gilroy and I bought a 3 lb sack of fresh garlic. Now what the hell do I do with 3 lbs of garlic? Throw me some ideas! (no, I haven't seen any vampires in the neighborhood....)

lebanese garlic sauce:
skin and crush 45 cloves of garlic add 150mi of olive oil, and the juice of one lemon. whup it all together. traditionally this is used as a sauce for poultry and lamb dishes, or as the basis for a sauce in any number of other dishes. cut it with some yoghourt for a hair-raising dip experience. chuck a bit of it in any dish you can think of - mashed potatoes, pasta sauce, the list goes on. |

roast it
cut the tops off of a couple of heads, pour some olive oil, salt n pepper, wrap them in foil, and roast in the oven for 20 mins or so, When they are good and soft, let them cool, and squeeze out the yummy roasted cloves. They can then be smashed up and kept in a jar in the fridge for a while. I love roasted garlic on toast. (and everything else)

Check out this site - lots of recipes from Gilroy Garlic festival:
http://www.garlicfestival.com/recipes.php Unfortunately the link to deserts wasn't working for me - that's where I'd expect to find one or two for Garlic Ice Cream, tastier than it sounds... |

Whole garlic cloves under the skin of a roasted chicken is pretty darn good. There's always compound butter.

Let us know when you have the bbq! that sauce does sound delightful. I've had it in Lebanese restaurants but did not know it was so simple to make. |

I just remembered that the next movie in my Netflix queue is a vampire flick. That's kind of funny.
