Look at this lovely new VespaS I spotted at the local dealer. Was delivered and then returned. I guess the lady didn't like how it rode. Shame.

I'm sure sales people/dealers cringe every time a new rider drives off their lot. I saw the deer in the headlight eyes of the salesman when I rode off for the first time and then safely made it out of his lot. A few years back a young guy here was killed after he hit a tree while pulling into his apartment parking lot with less than 5 miles on the bike.

I don't know what happened to the lady who crashed it. The scooter itself had zero scratches on it. The rear end was still in showroom condition. The front end was busted up, but there wasn't a single scratch in sight. Maybe she tried to hop a curb?

Was recently swapping stories with a dealer about scoots crashed on the first week... or day... or ride...
Unfortunately, not a totally rare occurrence. It's happened to a few ModernBuddy members who were brave enough to admit it in the forums. Veering into a curb seems to be a common cause, but this front end is so compressed she'd have had to hit it pretty damn hard. |

I recall when I was looking for a digital camera and reading through reviews on different sites of camera reviews by people in the US who often ended the review with...."so I returned it".
Wonder if she returned it. With the new steering geometry it will really cut through the traffic. In all seriousness I hope she came out unscathed. |

I clicked on one youtube link and that leads you to another, it just got worse and worse. I figured if I carried on clicking then within a few minutes I was going to watch someone happily introduce themselves to the camera and then kill themselves 30 seconds later. Addictive to watch but I had to stop.

This looks like some of the crate damage I've seen. On occasion a crate will take a dive and this one looks like the front end smacked the ground first (and hard!).
If there was a rider let's hope she was fine. |
