I am now the proud owner of my first vespa.
My dad sold it to me at a bargain price and has just finished restoring it.
It runs really smooth, but the paint/body work isn't in the greatest of condition.

there was a production line fault on the mark 1 t5 Eric they forgot to spray under the frame so in most european countrys alot of these t5,s rusted very badly around the shock mount and floor , countrys like Italy and spain have better climates ( not so much rain ) so there is plenty left there . in spain they had a t5 mark 1 ( sqaure headlight ) called a tx 200 thats a t5 with a px200 motor . just thought you might be interested to know this . does the T5 have an electric start? i've been annoyed at my p200e's lack of starting ability. i was told to let the bike idle after riding to let the fuel run out before letting it sit for a bit. is that y it's so hard to start up?

Could be. A good way to turn it off is pull up, switch off the petcock, and let it run a bit to minimize flooding of the carb after you kill the engine.
