My Allstate was fine when I rode it home yesterday, then this morning I got on it to go to work, and it started up just fine, and sounded like it was running well, but I turned the handle to give it some gas and nothing happened. Also, there was no longer any resistance in the handle. I'm assuming that the throttle somehow disconnected. Does that sound right to you guys?
I didn't have time to mess with it this morning. Once I am able to start poking around, what do I need to be looking for?

Sounds like your throttle cable snapped. Look where it enters the carb, and twist the handle. If nothing moves, you need to replace your cable.

If i had to bet, i'd guess it popped out of the little pulley inside the headset. If it's not held with some tension it does this often.

Tighten up the tensioner on the outside of the carb box after you get it hooked up again.

I checked everything out and the cable did in fact break. What I don't quite understand is how that happened while I wasn't riding it. Unless it happened to break with the very first pull of the throttle when I started it in the morning. I guess I should be thankful that this didn't happen out on the road.
Anyways, I'm gonna take it by my mechanic after work, and he'll take care of it.

Do it your self and save a few bob, it aint hard and you'll learn a thing or two for when it happens in the middle of nowhere when no one can hear you scream

No.

Not until you jump on your bike late for an appointment and find it has snapped.

I did not actually hear it snap, nor was I riding it when the alleged snapping occurred.
Perhaps it never snapped at all, and the broken cable that I pulled out was the physical manifestation of my uncertainty in regards to performing my own scooter repair...
