Your statement was that ABS is not as clever as a human being. You continue by saying that you lock up the rear brake. I do not believe that I have ever heard that locking the rear is considered a proper braking method.

ScooterRaton, before we continue going around in circles, I never stated that locking the wheel up was a proper braking method. It was an experiment Razz emoticon

I stand by my reasoning. When I have a machine I'm unfamiliar with, then I like to take it somewhere and play. Away from other people. That way, when/if something goes awry, I only hurt myself. And then when something similar occurs on the road, I have a little information on how to deal with it.

Obviously experience will make me a better rider. I didn't get an S50 to be the next Rossi, I got it because I fell in love with it's cuteness and it's a very useful vehicle for this town.

My next step is a small bike, and plenty of protective gear. I will ride totally sensibly. But what I will also do is go somewhere and practice. That way if I 'accidentally' pop a wheelie and land on my arse, it's only me with the pain in my cheeks.

It's not like I have no road sense. I've driven cars far and fast in the last 15 years. Cracked a few up while 'experimenting'...not only have I lived to tell the tale, I'm a pretty fair car driver with a pretty fair sense of vehicle physics...next I want to learn how to ride a bike good! And I 100% agree that experience is key...hopefully I don't die while I'm learning the craft.

Anyway SR, agree to disagree? It's only the internet, in considerably less than 100 years nobody is going to care

Peace and respect!
