Not a big on learning by the manual, I am a "hands on person", but why can't anyone anywhere in illinois offer a beginning scooter mechanics course?
I wouldn't mind learning all the ins and outs! Especially for oil changes and other things like changing a tire, simple wiring issues? Heck I could talk about rattle can painting vs. custom painting myself.
What about a real scooter tradeshow event? Besides the ones offered at Motorcycle shows? Just totally scooters on the floor, with various seminars? Will this ever happen?
Dealers, hello!, I see you at the motorcycle shows, why don't you do some real seminars, like Scooters 101, Introduction to Scooters Expectations vs. Realities, and Scooters 102, simple fixes and repairs.
Do they offer this type of a fare at Amerivespa events, or is it just party and ride stuff? I would be awesome to treat it like a business trade show. I have gone to enough of those for work. It would be great to attend a tradeshow for things I love!

Yeah. I was thinking along the same lines just recently. When I was in High school, I took an auto mechanics course in the summer school program and they let us work on our own cars. Over the summer, I rebuilt the engine, carb, new brakes, etc. This was on top of didactic classes in the morning. It was great.
It seems to me that if there is a mechanic that has a set of tools and not a lot of customers he/she could do well with a group that wants to learn to work on their own bikes. To start off, I would imagine an every other month change your oil and check out your bike class. An every year change your belt and rollers class etc. An instructor/mechanic could do well by having each customer buy and bring their own parts and charge 2/3 the cost of labor or more per customer and inform that classes will be canceled if less than 3 sign up. You could also charge a little less to those that want to learn yet don't need the job done on their own bike, they can help work on the bikes of others.
I would definitely do this and yes I am a dreamer.
