There's got to be a way to attach some Givi E36N or E360 hard side cases to the 500! The 250 and 400 guys/gals get those crazy German mounts, but us 500 folk get JACK SQUAT! I'm not much of a fabricator (ok, who am I kidding, I'm nowhere near a fabricator), but there's got to be a few of you out there that could suggest a relatively easy way to mount some side cases. There was a fella a while back who fabricated some mounts for some sweet looking Piaggio-branded side cases, but he's disappeared from the forum (here's a link to that post: Givi hard cases installed). I think he used some dog-bone risers. That would be great, but the cases would need some sort of mounting plate, no?

Anyway, c'mon on all you weekend inventors, let's get some ideas floating around!

My thoughts have always been that once I get the time and $, I would order the Binetto/SHAD cases and mounts and modify them. I have the 37L case and AM VERY HAPPY WITH IT...especially the spot on color match to my red 500. I would assume the side cases, made by the same folks and with the same color plates would be the same. Here's the cases, I'll try and find a link to the mounts:

Cases
http://www.binetto.com/SHAD-Motorcases/SHAD-SH-43-Motorcase-Side-Cases.aspx

their site has the manuals for all their mounts...I just haven't taken the time to see which one would fit best. Perhaps a more knowledgeable person could look at the list and say "Aha! that has the same sort of tubing as the 500!"

Nice find, luthorhuss! I really like the look of my Piaggio-branded Shad top case and see that they make a similar side case as well. That would be the bee's knees! Looks like the Full Master system integrates with the top case mounting plate - this just may be the answer! Must investigate further.

I have contacted Givi Usa about this, originally for m BV500 but only to find out they do not make them for ANY maxi scooters. There are some german brackets I am thinking of ordering and having my husband do some custom welding. But I think either way it's going to be a huge pain in the ass, AFTER I spend $200 on brackets.

Below is my email from Greg at Givi Usa.

We apologize but we do not offer side brackets for any of the scooters.

Best Regards,

Craig

Hi, I have two side pannier E 360 Givi Mono Key Cases. I also have a 2007 Piaggio BV500. Please tell me which mounting brackets I can purchase from you so I can put the side cases on my Piaggio. Thank you very much Jessica Corr Liberty, NY USA

Thanks for the info Jess.

The more I look at the SHAD Full Master system, the more I think that may be the ticket. I just need to find out if it's wide enough. My guess is no, but we'll see.

I emailed SHAD to see if they had any suggestions.

Oh, those look nice. I may need to contact the seller for a better shot of those mounts.

The more I look at the 500, the more I think rigging something off the luggage rack on the back is the way to go. My brain's a-crankin' here!

Thanks for the link!

Why not go with soft-cases?Silverstone softcases hold 40L, and go on and off with velcro straps that lay under the seat. Easy to remove when you don't need the storage.

I actually have a set of Silverstones installed right now, but looking for something a little less droopy.

I like some of the soft cases, and if I worked in a nice area or garaged my bike, I'd definitely consider them. However, I attend a large university and I cant really lug around all the soft cases from class to class and I'm pretty sure I'd come back to no cases if I left them. That plus I'd worry about rain issues with textbooks in the soft cases.

They are droopy, that's true. For carryin' I wear 'em like a yoke, one on my chest and one on my back.
