I'm dithering between used scooters, looking at a Piaggio LT150 or Scarabeo 150.

Aprilia probably doesn't stock Rotax motor parts in their (reputedly not so great) service network.

Would the Scarabeo be a service/repair liability? I probalby won't be doing my own work, but taking it to an Aprilia/Vespa dealer for service. Will I be waiting months for parts?

Anyone know how hard it is to find stuff? The Scarabeo runs cold/stalls at stop, which could be a choke/idle issue, or a fuel pump issue, or maybe carb stuff...

Any advice appreciated.

I always went to AF1 Racing for my Scarabeo needs, they never let me down. www.af1racing.com

Piaggio now owns Aprilia, so waiting on parts should take around the same time or so for either scoot, if working with a good dealer or shop.

Thanks, I know it's true that Piaggio owns everything now. But as I understand it, the Rotax motor in the Scarabeo was pre-Piaggio?

So I'm wondering if they bother to stock Rotax-era parts, or if they lean towards LEADER parts since that's what's in Aprilia scooters now.

I briefly salivated over a Scarabeo 200 with a leader engine at my local dealer, but that would be one or two thousand more cash outlay than the used scoots.

Call up AF1 Racing and see what they say about parts availability. They're good guys and will give you a straight answer.
