Today was the first time that the raindrops on my visor made it hard to see. I've ridden in the rain before without major worries about sight but today was different. The rain drops weren't running off like they usually do. Wiping the visor with my soaked leather gloves was useless.

Anyone have a good remedy to make clearing my visor easier?

Most glove manufacturers have models that include an integrated squeegie to make wiping the visor more effective, plus there are also coatings - like Rain-X for windshields, but visor-specific - that should help the rain sheet off the visor. I expect that over time and with cleaning, you've removed whatever initial sheeting agent may have been on the visor.

Best of luck!

I've had good results from this Nikwax product (though it definitely needs regular applications to stay effective).

And +1 to gloves with integrated squeegee blades.

I keep a micro cloth mitten that I purchased at the dollar store in my jacket. The mitten's original intent was for car washing I believe. I just slide it over my left motorcycle glove and intermittently wipe the visor as needed.

Now I feel dumb, really dumb.

I've been using a pair of gloves that came with my new scoot and kept wondering why the left glove (and only the left) had a rubber like thing running down the index finger. Thanks, I think...

Nah...not dumb. It's just that it surely hasn't rained in Temecula since you got your scooter and you don't get fog so how could you be expected to guess?

Someone on here suggested Lemon Pledge for anti fogging, I tried it and it worked so I sprayed some on the outside and it beads the rain right off.

Thanks who ever posted that. Would give you proper credit but I'm drunk posting tonight!

That helpful hint came from -=[ Bill ]=- of Bowie, MD in the "Rain-X for Plexiglass" thread!

I use that also and think it an excellent product, sometime I've gone about 6 week between applications and it's still worked just as good. It was the first thing I did when I got my new helmet this week, applied some to the visor.

Thanks all. I like the idea of a water repellent for my visor. I do have a pair of gloves with the squeegee thing but they are winter gloves and not water proof. Also, I have small hands and I haven't seen any other ladies gloves that come with the thumb wiper that are for warm weather.

There are squeegees that you can get on the internet that you can add if you have gloves that don't have one already built in.

I don't remember the sites now and can't search to give you a link but I have seen them.

Just another option for you to explore. Nerd emoticon

Something else worth exploring.

When you change the wiper blades on your cage, or have a friend hold them from their wiper blade change, cut out a piece from a good section that fits your finger size. You can super glue it to your glove. Or for that "ease of changing when it wears out" feel use industrial strength velcro to fasten it to your glove finger.

If nothing else it's more economical to do it yourself. Nerd emoticon

This may not be the most helpful suggestion but it works for me - I turn my head to the left and right more and the rain blows off my visor vs my wiping which hasn't helped me out as it sorta smears...
