I just bought a brand-new S300ie. What a rush! Even taking it easy, breaking it in (how will I be able to wait 500 miles!), it goes. A light (very light) twist on the throttle, and you're at 30, shortly after, 50. It is heavier than my LXV by maybe 100#, and it feels very solid. The bigger wheels are noticeable in terms of handling. So far, I have no criticisms at all. It is so much more than a 150, it is hard to describe! Nice exhaust note.

Congrats! I'm waiting for my Red Super to arrive in Canada and then I'll slap my LV pipe on it. I can't wait to hear the sound of that combo.

New 300!
Me too!
After attending the rally this weekend, I realized that I needed more power for my work commute (my job is relocating further up the peninsula). So when I took my LX 150 in for servicing, I freaked a sales guy out by saying, 'I'm interested in the GTS 300". And he says 'when are you looking at getting one?" And I said 'right now." LOL Getting a windscreen put on (and shaped down) and the seat shaved lower (since I can only put one foot down with the LX150 and this is taller). I am not trading in my beloved BleuBelle (the LX150) because she's perfect for the grocery runs around my house. And because I'm not ready to give her up, she only has 3K on her. So what's the deal with the pipes? Louder pipes would violate my noise ordinances where I live. I do like the idea of a louder horn. |

Yeah, I moved from an LXV to a 300S and love love love it.
I took my 300 in for break-in service and they actually gave me my old LXV (I traded in) as a loaner and it was a great opportunity to compare back to the old commuter for a day. After riding the 300 for a while going back to the LXV really, the slow response and wobbly feel at high speeds was really pronounced. Stuff I never really noticed before the move up. |

Re: New 300!
Hi! I just got my GTS 300 a few weeks ago and I have been totally enjoying the heck out of it, too. It has run flawlessly and quickly for the several hundred miles that I have put on it. I also await the first service, at which time I will add rear crash bars and Malossi front brake pads. I think the standard brakes could be a bit better.
Concerning your Leo Vince question, do a lot of searches, and you will find good things, and bad things about the pipe. I don't understand how there can be so much going wrong with what is essentially steel tubes. There could be installation errors, etc. but it really puzzles me nonetheless. As far as performance mods go, I am going to wait for the warranty to run out before I dink around with it. At that time I may add a more efficient pipe, and an electronic module like the Corsa unit from Scooterswest, and a less restrictive intake. The engine already seems to be in a fairly high state of tune, with a high compression ratio, so I don't anticipate any internal mods. Unless someone develops a 350 cc big bore kit! For most of the transportation needs that I have, the GTS is adequate, and way more fun than the alternatives. I have not ridden my motorcycle since picking up the Vespa. I have only driven my car to lug my dog around. shankhill wrote: I just bought a brand-new S300ie. What a rush! Even taking it easy, breaking it in (how will I be able to wait 500 miles!), it goes. Awesome! Did you buy that white one at Fineline Vespa--the first one they got in? I watched them uncrate it, and was the first to ride it (just around the block). I'll be very interested to hear more about it. Now that you'll be rocking the biggest Vespa in this little town, I'll be sure to recognize you out on the streets. Oh, and dammit, now I don't have the biggest Vespa in town any more!
Oh, I can tell you all about the LV pipe. Very nice pipe, but I've broken two header pipes with it so far. Mine may be for sale soon. |

Yep- it was me! So if you see a white 300 with an ol guy with a big grin on his face, you'll know who it is. I can't believe how much mor fun it is than a 150. I wish now that I started with the 300!
