I was going to take a look at these, but I have enough to do in my garage for the near future.

well, at least everyone on this board knows what goes into getting an SS180 and "restoring" it at this point.

I'll take one off of someone's hands for $500, which would make your investment a nice, even $5k.

Not a bad idea, though, Dullivan ... finding someone who'd be willing to invest $2750 for an SS180 wouldn't be hard. Just find another dude and split the price and the bikes. ( not directing this at you ...but conceptually, it's a good idea... )
Or buy the whole thing, keep one and sell the other for 4k and have yourself a $1500 SS180. |

I have a pair of SS180s I'll be selling soon. Strong runners both, and I'll even split 'em up. Start saving your pennies!

Well, they aren't really ready for pix or sale yet, but here is the less-nice of the two. It's complete, just taken apart in the pic 'cause I'm working on it. Asking price will probably be somewhere in the neighborhood of 3K.

I'm trying to remember for sure, but I think it's a '67. It definitely wore the euro-style taillight for a while--based on the paint fade--but the can of tuna was on it when I got it. I have an old euro taillight I'll put on it sometime soon. I think the paint will clean up pretty well, but it's worse in the front and the legshield has been primered over on one side. You could probably remove the primer and see what's underneath. Basically somebody needs to spend a few nights in the shop with some tallboys, rubbing compound, and lacquer thinner.

That auction bike is pretty complete... shame it's not the original paint, though. I think it's worth a tad less due to that ... but it's still not a bad price for someone who wants to do one of these up. I don't know about stripping off the rattle can down to the white, though....and having it come out looking good. That's more work than i have time for these days.

I mean... i daresay mine was in better shape than this one ..and i paid $1200 for mine originally. And yes, it had the original white paint under a layer of rattle can as well. I opted to blast and respray. Mine wasn't quite as complete, though. My seat was unuseable, no legshield beading, etc. |
