The parking brake on my 250 has failed... I'm curious if this has this happened to anyone else?

Not working at all or just not tight?
There is an adjustment on the brake for pad wear or cable stretch. If the wheel has been turned much with the brake on the pads wear pretty quick. Not difficult to replace and not very expensive. If you need pads then put them on adjust to be tight when on but not dragging when off. Mine was delivered lose and I ended up replacing the pads as it was easy to take off not realizing it was on. |

Not working at all. Failed while parked on a slight grade and rolled into a wall... cracking the front lower plastic.
Didn't fall over though! |

When you apply it is there any resistance at all? If there's a little (but not rock-solid) then it just needs adjustment. Very easy. Bike on centre-stand, hand-brake off. Undo the locknut (12mm spanner) and by hand turn in the adjuster until the rear wheel locks solid. Back off the adjuster half a turn, check the wheel turns freely, then check it locks solid with the hand-brake on. If all OK, nip up the lock-nut.

Good to know! I'm sure I'll need to do that at some point.
For this bike there is not any resistance. It's like there isn't a parking brake at all. Rockridge Two Wheels say they've heard of this happening once before... just once though. |

Can you see any movement of whatever sort down by the rear wheel and brake itself when the lever is operated? If so it should just be adjustment, if not, there may be some other fairly simple mechanical failure.

Ratboy is this one of your rentals? I'll bet customers drive off with the brake set all the time which will cause the excessive wear on the pads and need to be adjusted/checked pretty often.
