OK, I give up. You're a much better peace-taker, even if you can't carry your drink.

(I did my first baby hat last week, and I'm childishly pleased with it. Now working on a mini jumper in matching two-tone green. Boat neck with drop-in sleeves. Thought you might want to know.)

wait ... what? what baby? where? Wha? emoticon don't let me step on it.

now... BB, are you serious about knitting baby clothes or is this just some really elaborate wind-up that i've just fallen for, hook line and sinker?

have you made one of these yet?

Genie. As has been proven by the posts above, I lack the quickwittedness for elaborate wind ups

So, yes, we're waiting for a little alien to pop out of Mrs BB's midriff. Should be cooked around the end of Sept, apparently, although how accurate these predictions are is anyone's guess. I reckon that with the warmish summer she might be cooking at about half a gas mark above normal, so maybe the pea will pop out of the pod a little early.

And, yes, I've been learning to knit. And, yes, I'm trying to make my unborn child's life a misery by knitting ill-fitting, scratchy, hideously coloured and patterned clothes for it. Plus, it takes your mind off all the gruesome things you learn at antenatal classes. (?Discussion on the finer points of perineal massage, anyone?)

Plan is to dress baby as embarassingly as possible throughout large stages of early childhood so that we can use the pictures as blackmail in later childhood, in exchange for good behaviour.

[edited to add: I don't think I'd ever knit a fake moustache though. Unless it was for the child, as part of the blackmail plans]

Are we referring to the barse or the farse? Either way I do not look forward to these gruesome facets of parenthood.

EXCELLENT terminology, The J.

It's sort of both barse and farse. ?fbarse, perhaps?

Anyway, I suggest that you don't go any further in learning about this until you actually need to (and even then I'd take earplugs and just pretend you're listening).

excellent. sartorial humiliation early in life is a proven character-builder. make sure you buy a home haircutting kit as well to complete the look.

Name Change
I've lived in the Village for about 13 years now but now it's time to leave.

The reason for the new title was because alot of things have changed for me over the past 6 months and now it's time to move on so I thought a new name was deserved. I'm still the old gobshite Bill who can't resist a tight apex but I'm not the Bill I was.

As many of you know I have a soft spot for French Bulldogs and when I finally grow up I will own one. When I see A Frenchie I totally lose it and make the noises that women make when an employee brings their new baby into work. Seriously I go a bit silly so as an aspiration for me he's going to be my Avatar for the time being and also Bill Dog is a mildly amusing play on words but you knew that already.

Ride safe

Mutt
I've spent hours thinking of cute names for the Frenchie and I even thought of calling her Vespa.

There was a time when I wanted two pugs one fawn and one black.

One called Ting Tong and the other one Ping Pong.

Bill X

Oh yeah on Saturday the 15th August I'm due to meet up with a friend in London around 6pm but I don't want to ride up just for that.
If I can I plan to spend the entire day up there so if anyone is around with nothing to do give me a shout.

Lil Pepy I met a non pedigree Frenchie recently which only cost £1000 but you are bang on the money with the £2000 but you would wouldn't you.

We had a pair of Pugs as you have described. Two bitches named Tid-Bit and Toe-Jam. You can guess which one was which.

They had been abandoned to us by our daughter, granddaughter and son-in-law, who left for a 7 year stint in Australia.
Upon their return, we were given permanent custody as they had acquired another fawn Pug (this time a male) during their Oz adventure.

Sadly Tid-Bit and Toe-Jam passed away several years ago, within days of one another (old age at 13).

If we ever get another pet it will be either a Pug, or a Frenchie.

Aww That's so sweet. Pugs are just the most affectionate of dogs aren't they. I'd have dog tomorrow but as I live on my own and don't spend much time here it just wouldn't be fair on them and there is a chance that I would come home to no furniture and a very pissed off dog but one day before I'm too old I'd like to own my own mutt.
Most of the ones I've met have been owned by friends or girlfriend's and one of my exes was a dog behaviour therapist so I used to get involved with her classes.
She has the most amazing English Mastif at the moment called Henry who is only 2 years old but stands higher than my hips.
He slobbers all over the place but he's cute in a idiot boy kind of way.
My favourite though was Scooby who was an ex prison black labrador who had retired but had plenty of bounce left in her.
Her tail had split in two when she was young so it had to be docked at 2/3rds so it was the best kind of batton for knocking coffee cups flying.
I'm going to be reunited with her on Saturday evening for a long walk out.

Welcome to the Dog Thread. Sorry.

I'd like to name a cat Vespa, or possibly Vesper after the Bond girl.

A nice name for a slinky all-black cat would be 'Mrs Peel'.

In less than an hour I'm going to take the Hornet out of the garage and give it damn good seeing to on the way to meet an old friend I used to work with when I worked for VW.

I've been waiting for this moment all week. Not to go out but to go and blow the cobwebs out of my helmet.
Because I don't commute on it it's my special weekly treat and I can't wait to roll it out and do some styling.

Is it just me that gets like this ?

Aww That's nice Alice. It wasn't a bad ride up to Dougs eventhough we were 45 minutes early and when we tried to stall for time by dropping by Genie and Alex's place they didn't answer then getting a little bit lost.
As ever the food was excellent and the converstaion ended up in the gutter within minutes but no surprise there and then a ride into Kings Cross to collect the LML with Doug on the back of the Hornet.
It was like having a very affectionate Koala Bear on the back with reverse polarity but I wasn't complaining as Genie will back up.
I think I started to laugh at one stage which could be heard over the traffic and engine noise.
Oh yes the LML is a sexy little minx and Doug where did you find that scooter shop ? What did I spot there but a Italjet Dragstar.
OK they aren't very good but I'd have one foibles and all.

More in a sec.
