Ride your man's bike (with him as bitch) round to my place and you take the Fuoco. Yes, it's out of the way a tad, but you get good roads down to Brighton thereafter!
you'd seriously trust me with the fuoco? you realize that i've never ridden such a beast before and will probably do the entire run at 25mph? i can change my insurance policy so that i'm covered for 3rd party if i'm riding it with your permission but i'd better not crash it
I'd be very surprised if your insurance didn't already cover you TP for other bikes. Yes of course I'd trust you!
it doesn't - i'm not on fully comp. however i can change my tpft policy so that i'm covered. in fact i believe i will do that today
Whoa!

The front left tyre has a not-very-slow puncture - losing 7psi a day. Unless I can guarantee getting that fixed by Monday (I'll try) I don't think it's a brilliant idea for you to ride it in that condition.

OK, tyres ordered and booked for swapping out on Friday. I'll get CBS to do all the work this time (I normally just take the wheels in) as I need the rear brake disc changing as well - and I just know if I attempt that I'll round off the hex holes or shear a bolt. Best left to those who will probably do the same, but have the equipment to hand to rectify it!

So Monday's expedition still looks viable.

can't you sling something into the exhaust so that it comes in under the 33bhp mark? have you got any spare X9s hanging about?

It's over at the crank, but under at the wheels. So if you get a dyno certificate you can appease Plod if they get inquisitive. I haven't though...

There's Ed's X9 250 - but that needs a SAS (secondary air system) pipe replacing - it sounds rather loud at the moment! I've got the pipe but haven't found a tuit yet.

Hrumph.

The logistics of your getting here, then to Brighton without leaving Bill hanging around all day needs consideration though.

Not a problem. The big problem is prising some mouldy mugs out of Ed's grime-buster's nightmare of a room - and then getting them squeeky clean - so I can offer tea/coffee when you get here.

Then mostly B roads to Brighton!

Figs and Dates Donkfest 09.
Would you believe B roads scare me a bit ? Give me a fast a road with cars pulling out on you all the time any day of the week.

I think it's about time we all met up again so why don't we all meet at the Pilot Public House 68 River Way Charlton SE10 OBE which is in spitting distance of the 02 Arena on the afternoon of October the 11th ?

The Pub is a real gem and the food is pretty good as well plus there is plenty of parking.

I'm going - how about you all ?

nice one spider
That's excellent news Spider!!

My weekend nearly hit the skids today, the B&B for Sunday night called to say they have over booked six rooms and I am one of the unlucky 6 who now has no room. I called a few places and found this place in Sandown: http://www.sandownmanor.co.uk/ £37 a night, I have booked that, as it is 1/2 the price of the previous place.

I will be in Brighton as early as I can, I am leaving Isle of Wight early (about 6.00) Monday. I may meet up with my brother inlaw and sister inlaw if they are around for lunch.

I won't be able to make the trip to Spiders house in September as my schedule gets all wonky for a while in September. I should make the Pilot Inn, but if my sister gives birth (the baby is due in October) it may be a different story.

Powder Keg
So the Fox isn't selling either on the Auto Trader,Gumtree or Ebay which I think is down to 3 things. No one knows what it is,everyone is on holiday and it's in a colour that no one likes and this means I may not be able to buy the new shape Ford Ka that I have waiting in a compound . I've already nicknamed it the Dwarf Shark but if the Fox doesn't go this month I'll release it. It would be a shame because I'm getting the Ka at below cost as the price was agreed before the recent price increases.
Arse.

But what to do next huh ? Keep the Fox and buy a tatty scoot for the winter months or the same but sell the Hornet and buy a 300 in yellow.

Decisions decisions.

Genie,

How's the TomTom working out? I'd love to buy the Zumo, but I'm not convinced I can justify £450.

I was thinking of a TomTom (even the basic one) + wired headphones + (possibly) the Givi satnav handlebar bag. Main reason I want one is so that I can get it to plan a route along scenic/twisty B-roads and then give me directions when I get lost.

Cheers,

David

we used the TomTom 720 to do exactly that on our trip to Cornwall and it worked brilliantly. it's one of few models that actually come with wired headphones - most of the newer units force you to go with bluetooth, which is a pain in the neck. you can also advance plan a route in quite a lot of detail using waypoints. i love it. only downside is that you can't plan a route online and download it into the unit but that didn't turn out to be as much of a problem as i thought it would. I bought a reconditioned unit for £190 on tottenham court road. highly recommended.

in other news .... insurance now sorted, i am now covered to ride borrowed bikes and the policy was £50 cheaper than the one i'm presently on so i got money back!

I got a good deal on a gps a while back from these guys http://www.gpsw.co.uk/cats/cl3_383.html . They often have reconditioned stock, and at the moment I see they have decent deals on garmin bike bundles (incl mounts), as well as a v cheap mobile phone package for TT5 (in the "sale" section, iirc). No connection, just a happy customer.

I made a reply in the link above giving an overview of a programme called tyre which you can use along with the tomtom, might be useful.

Good advice on the Fox Genie. It's got 8 days to run so if it doesn't go I'll do that and re-list it in mid September.

Excellent work on the insurance! Who is that with? Makes me wonder if I should maybe inform my insurer I've passed my test... I had sort of assumed they would reduce my premium by a tenner and charge me a fifteen pound admin fee. Was going to wait til renewal time - anyone reckon it's [likely to make a significant difference to the premium|worth declaring]?

Vespa PX, 2006, fresh MOT. Metallic blue.

Wants £1250.

Fair price? I'm going to look at it anyway.
Great price I think; I presume it's like this one!

Mind you, you could have an LML in Midnight blue for £1800 (no MOTs) and I've been told they're better built than the Vespas.

Isn't yours that really unusual (and consequently great) blue colour?

Spider, great news on your recovery. Hopefully all that nerve damage will resolve given time....

How about the old ET4 colour Tobacco. Would look smick... (new word for me from an Aussie guy on the forum). I hate yellow.

Tobacco ET4
That's not your ET4 is it Doug? That colour is pretty quality. My paint needs work (I've just completed a temporary gaffer tape touch up on it - looks fairly "rat") and am weighing up a change of colour.

Excellent work on the insurance! Who is that with? Makes me wonder if I should maybe inform my insurer I've passed my test... I had sort of assumed they would reduce my premium by a tenner and charge me a fifteen pound admin fee. Was going to wait til renewal time - anyone reckon it's [likely to make a significant difference to the premium|worth declaring]?
i'm with carole nash. there is some discounted offer going on at the moment, which i got in on .... that's tpft only, and i'm only insured third-party to ride other people's scoots.

given those conditions if doug's offer is still open i would gladly take it Eyelashes emoticon ... are you trying to free up some parking space? though i still plan to ride the fucko to brighton on monday.
