That's a novel concept. Can we look forward to the whole of the Met policing on personal opinion alone? It could make things more interesting. Very sorry to hear about the accident.

It's still one of the best things that WM's done. I'll be getting back on just as soon as all the relevant bits are fixed, and/or I can get a replacement scoot.

Glad to hear you are OK David. I hope to ride with you when the scoot is back to its best. At least now you have 'your' story. I am sure every scooter rider has at least one.

I had a VERY quiet weekend as I've been knackered lately, and I'm feeling much better for it. On Sunday I met Howard in Petersfield for a ride and some lunch, otherwise the bikes remained tethered. Yesterday I didn't actually leave the house

Just off the phone with the insurers, who were surprisingly helpful.

Based on my version of events, they think it's pretty clear cut that I'm not at fault, but obviously the driver may choose to dispute that, at which point we'll need my witness.

Scoot will be picked up later in the week for assessment (and probable repair rather than write-off). At the same time they pick that one up, a replacement scoot/bike and helmet will be unloaded so I can get back on the road, which means I still get to go to Bestival on two wheels next Thursday.

Sounds like you've got good insurers. Glad you sound like you're OK. Hope the driver doesn't decide to play silly buggers.

A Yamaha X-City 250 will be outside my door tomorrow morning.

It's difficult to argue with that, so I'll save my energy for the third-party.

Look fwd to hearing how you like the X-City. A friend's husband has one, and loves it, but he only rides to work and back so he's probably never really opened it up.

i've just been down to LSBS to visit the poor dismantled interloper. david showed me the inside of the (now removed) legshield - i was astonished at the amount of rust that had accumulated under the factory welds. he'll be coating those locations with zinc before reassembling - something that mr. piaggio should have done in the first place

also took doug's little flash down for an MOT, which it passed with flying colours.

now, sadly, i have run out of further opportunities for procrastination, and will have to do some actual work.

I am on painkillers, so maybe.

Lexham are my insurers, Plantec are the people dealing with hire and repair.

I remember saying I would 'never' join a SC and I would never display a club sticker on my scooter. But I am quite proud to have the Donkei Skok sticker on my gts. The people on this forum have always been really helpful, generous and bloomin' nice to me and if displaying a little sticker on my scooter shows my affiliation to a club with no actual rules then that is all good.

I'm not a control freak. No seriously I'm not.

For me when clubs start to take on any kind of structure they lose thier attraction and that's what none of us wanted.

It started off as a bet and then grew into a bunch of friends who all share a common interest and a sense of humour.

Me and lil pepy have "Uncommitted SC" against our users names over on the GTS forum.
It sort of started as a joke between us. We are not members of any SC as we don't have the time to put in the commitment that I believe most clubs would require. I do quite like the DSSC ethos though......

Keep the 'uncommitted' moniker - but display the stickers. There's no people as uncommitted as the DSSC.

You can't actually 'join' and you can't actually 'leave'. If you want to have a 'larf' then pretend you're a member. That's about the best any of us can do.

Anyway it's just a bloody pink car sticker.

My eX-SHitty 250 has arrived, along with replacement helmet.

Haven't ridden it yet, but my first impressions are that the Honda SH300 and Arai helmets are hard acts to follow. Scoot is made of cheap plastic, and the helmet is bizarrely scratchy inside.

On the plus side, the hire period is "up to 30 days" as they expect to have mine repaired and back to me before that, and I get to keep the helmet.

Blimey that was quick. Who made the helmet?

Today was noticeable as being the first day of autumn - fair weather riders and loons on 50 cc not much in evidence.

It's a Spada RP700 and I'm astonished that anyone would pay £45 for it.

I'm severely tempted to wear my Arai instead, in the belief that a well-fitting but scratched Arai provides better protection than an unmarked ill-fitting £45 one.

Once I get the paperwork through, I'm going to phone up and find out what the process is for me buying a replacement Arai ASAP and making sure I get the money back.

That Mini looks brilliant! My brother had a white one years ago with black details and (I think) a red interior. I had been in other Minis before that but the Coopers are a wee bit special, eh?

Just off the phone from my insurers - scoot to be returned to me, then picked up by someone else. I keep the hire scoot in the interim.

My guess is that now the hire/repair people have seen it, they think it might be a write-off, and my insurers want a second opinion. Obviously I'd rather have a brand new bike again, as that's what I had a when I collected it 9 days ago.

Fun fun fun, but I'm glad I'm fully comp.

I'm feeling like I've just breathed water through my nose. I took a Maccy D McChicken snadwich meal in the gut so Genie could get one of those coke glasses. The deal had finished so I was stuck with a large meal and paid an extra £1 for the glass. I feel sick and the orange fanta was less than ok I had to chuck half of it.

On the up side I treated myself to orginal BSG about £30 at HMV and BSG 1980 was a tenner. A few chapters of Harry and an episode of BSG tonight me thinks

the deal was finished already??? it's only been on for like two weeks or something. who can eat enough mickey-D in two weeks to get the full set??? - yes, i know, most of hackney ... but... ewwww.....
