Dessa, I park as close to Charing Cross Road as I can - in front of the YMCA gym is my favourite, but usually full unless I get lucky and a courier is leaving as I arrive. One of the best gigs I've ever been to was the Monkees a few years back. They put on a brilliant show. Yeah, I was surprised too. |

That is hot brilliant blue, doug. Looks fantastic.
Best gig is a tricky one - either Daft Punk or the Flaming Lips. |

Oh, I'd love to see Flaming Lips - I hear they put on a really good show especially if you're a furry.

Speaking of Furries (although I'll be honest and say I don't actually know what you mean Alice!), best gig I've ever seen in my time was Super Furry Animals supporting Oasis at Hampden. SFA were just incredible, except for all the bampots screaming for Oasis to come out.
Oasis were good incidentally, but not the best band of the day that day. |

Yeah they were great.
It was in the Royal Albert Hall and we were standing at the front. I emerged a couple of hours afterwards and none of us could speak about it. It was that good. It was like a potent hallucination or a dream. |

I would love to see the flaming lips too!
In the nineties I had the pleasure of attending a gig which had a great bunch of bands, including Super Furry Animals, Ash and Menswear at the Astoria. In the Audience that night was Liam Gallagher and Damon Albarn and that was the night they had a big fight. Not that I saw it, as I was very drunk. My favourite gig of all time was probably Nirvana at the Reading festival. 1992 , just because it seemed so important at the time (I think this was just my own teenage delusion) |

Ah Britpop - that was fun. I was a Camdenite trendy with my velvet jacket, addidas samba and other hip rubbish. I liked both Oasis and Blur and went to see them both. But my favourite was Pulp.
The worst gig I ever went to was the Stone Roses in Reading, 1996. How bloody disappointing. I went crowd surfing to Underworld instead and got backstage. Brilliant! |

best gig: Helmet at les Foufounes Electriques in Montreal in I think 1995. unbelievable.
most funnest gig: Cannibal Corpse (also at Foufounes) a few years prior to that. Death metal. i was on the periphery of the mosh pit and my feet didn't touch the ground the entire time they were on stage. i was borne aloft on a crowd of moshing metalhedz wham were actually pretty good. not that i like their music much, but it was a very well produced gig, everything was spot on. worst gig - well, not in terms of music but just in terms of the amount of time it went on: Billy Bragg. give a socialist a microphone and they'll bang on until you club 'em over the head. the gig lasted five hours. i was begging to leave by the end. Doug... that blue is spec-neon-tacular!! i can't wait to see the whole scooter assembled. i also believe that you should just get rid of that dining room table and create a workshop. |

I'm 30, which now means that all the music I loved from that time is being used to sell insurance and family hatchbacks to me. I did enjoy all the fussing about what to wear, who to hate, who to rate, etc. It fizzled out and was finally exterminated by "OK Computer" which while very good, was very depressing. You couldn't dance to that and nobody wanted to sleep with them either. |

Doug that colour is the most amazing Blue I've ever seen.
It's just amazing. Amazing I tell you. Best gig The Barenaked Ladies in a small club on Brighton seafront with about 300 people in it. It changed my life. Worst gig The Damned in Kentish Town. It was truly awful. I sulked all the way home. Bill XX ⚠️ Last edited by Bill Dog on UTC; edited 1 time

Flaming Lips - truly amazing singing next to a pink castle (outdoors at Camp Bestival). Kids and adults entertained alike - new album supposed to be a bit too experimental - shame.
U2 - still take some beating live either with or without the gimmicks and political bollux. Queen - true live talent. Beardyman - beatboxer Howard Jones (dont all laugh at once) - my first gig ever at the Marquee with the bald midget dancer. Worst? Cant think of one right now. Charles. |

For the musically inclined, a few of those Beatles remasters are worth a listen.
Abbey Road and Rubber Soul both benefit a lot from the remastering. You hear whole new things which used to be muffled on the originals. |

If you look on the cover of Gordon Stephen and Ed were quite portly then as the years came off they got slimmer and slimmer.

Charles, details for Donkfest Donkfest 2009
I too would listened to my dads Beatles records and I loved the Beatles all through school, I was teased about it for years until the whole Britpop thing (as mentioned above), when I become instantly popular because of my Beatles records and videos. I am watching the pride of Britain awards (it is a secret pleasure) but I have to turn it over at the tear jerker parts Fortunately on Sky Arts1 we have 'The Stones in the Park' from 1969. |
