Modern Vespa

Thank you to everyone for a great afternoon. Glad you all liked Sues cake, she was very impressed to receive a sticker as payment. It is stuck on her drawers (not those ones)

Spider and Maver were hilarious and had me wetting my pants with laughter.

It was great to meet all of the people who I feel like I know but have never had a chance to meet. It was also great to meet new Skoks.

The highlight for me was when Tracey and Spider left in their minis like a scene from the Italian Job, complete with 'Self Preservation Society' theme music. 8)

Had some great tuition from Doug on Sat - it was funny to park my rather "used" GT in with all the other pristine scooters (Doug's, Bill's and Genie's). Learnt loads - like where to find the transmission, how to get it out, what a clutch looks like, what a clutch spring shouldn't look like etc and then how to put it all back etc. Amazingly the scoot feels miles better and didn't fall apart on the way home - maybe there's something to this maintenance lark.

Then met just about everyone this afternoon down the pub - I think I'm kok'ed out this weekend!

a very nice day out... even though the pub wasn't actually open when we arrived we all managed to blag our way in and settle ourselves in a cozy nook.

i can't remember the last time i had that much coffee and cake. it's made me feel very twitchy and my attempt at getting work done this afternoon wasn't wholly successful.

wonderful to see everyone, especially those who had to drive some distance to get there, and to tim and maurine7 who were brave enough to turn up and face us rowdy lot welcome!

Had a great, relaxed, fun time today. 8)
It was really nice to meet you all & hope to do it again soon.

It was so nice to meet all those that came down to the pub yesterday afternoon. Thanks Bill for inviting me. Everyone made me feel welcome and it was brilliant to converse with other vespa riders. Hope to chill with you again whenever xx

I didn't know you'd seen Frank Zappa! I'm cursing now as my dad worshipped FZ and would have loved to discuss it, and any other gigs you attended in the late 60s I imagine. I went to bed at half past ten and was still lying awake two hours later

Great afternoon, so many laughs. And I got to guide Mike towards the South Circular, which was very pleasing as I'm usually the lost one.

I think I must have had 7 cups of coffee in total which is probably why I was firing on all cylinders torwards the end. Plus of course I had all that cake. mmm tasty.

I have no idea how we are going to do it but a triple Birthday celebration could be a good idea but where or when I've not got a clue.

However I think we should all practice looking like we are in a glass box for a group photo.

So far we have Doug, Bills and Wolverine's Birthday's to consider.

it's a shame you missed the cake, i doubt sue will make us another one like it as we're not a real scooter club the next one's going to be made out of polystyrene.

Sunday was great - thanks to everyone for coming along and making it a good time!

In other good news, my new scoot is at the dealer's, awaiting registration, insurance and tax, so I might have it for the weekend. Even better, the car driver's insurance company has "admitted liability for this accident".

Result. Looking forward to seeing your new 'new bike'.

Some little smegs were seen sitting on my scooter yesterday making vroom vroom noises. My brother in law told them to get lost, but I was fuming and would have told them to f#'@ Off. I know this subject has been discussed umpteen times on MV but I am still shocked that some parents allow their kids to act this way.

Try owning one with a side car.

great news about the scoot mr. wonder you'll have to post the 'me and my new ride' pics all over again. and stay out of those bus lanes.

this morning's news: some little toerag has nicked my license plate i've reported it but must now travel everywhere with a bag full of documents until i have time to get a replacement .... and you can bet that the chances of me getting pulled over - as opposed to the scrotes who are riding around with my plate - are pretty much 100% bah.

Scootech will make one up while you wait. Scrotes indeed.

Oh, WTF? I hope they get stopped for riding around with their helmet perched on top of their head, cos I bet that's what they're doing.

My news this morning is that the GP800 got its new battery after some time spent trying to make it go on a defunct one. As I connected up the negative terminal I saw the immobiliser light on the dash wink into life, and a choir of heavenly angels broke into song.

sure enough.... the fact that my V5 still says the scooter is blue, and my MOT document says it's green, didn't help. i had to pull out the pet carrier to show Plod that i wasn't lying about the colour change

if only they were this thorough in dealing with actual criminals

I had some contact with Strathclyde's finest this morning on my commute. I had filtered to the front of a queue and stopped beyond the white line. Silly billy.

Panda car pulled up the other side of a traffic island and the driver pointed out I'd technically blown the red light and told me to watch what I was doing. Fair enough stuff so I agreed and got on my way.

I had done it pretty safely, in my defence, but I wasn't about to answer back over it. Better keeping the head down I think.

Would it not be best to change the registration?
