I too witnessed something similar in our local pub many, many moons ago.

Half a dozen or so locals got into a brawl with a dozen or so USAF airmen from Alconbury airbase in my local.......it was carnage, pool cue's broken on heads, pool tables overturned, bodies laying unconcious on the floor............ All over some local scrubber who looked twice at the wrong geezer.

I have also seen the squaddies going for it in a pub.

Confirms the British Army is still excels at hand to hand fighting.

I remember furniture actually flying around the room.

Heck, I can see this in my local any Saturday night (probably Friday as well, except I'm working Fridays ).
I think the squaddies would be in trouble with the local bikers as they are known to be trainers for the area police and military.

I spend a fair amount of time discussing weddings in work, it can get quite disheartening. I love Sue and the kids, but going through the farce of a wedding is more than we can both bare.

On the subject of fights, I have never been involved in a bar brawl with the British Armys finest, but I have been involved in a nasty punch up at Barking Rugby club. The worst by far was with a bunch of pikies at Romford ice rink when I was a teenager, I still have the scars to prove it.

And anyway I'm a lover not a fighter.

But on the subject of fights one I saw in Spain remains a classic mainly because it only last for about a second.

I was in Nehah on the South coast and two quite slick looking guys where having a bit of a face off then one just landed a really swift a accurate punch righ on the jaw of the other and he just fell over and unlike a Hollywood movie he didn't get up very quickly.
Looking back I'm not even sure he got up at all.

It was brutal but brilliant in it's simplicity.

The partner I was with was quite upset by the whole thing but I was facinated by it.

Usually fights are a blur of arms and legs with a rubbish outcome but it looked like this guy did it for a living.

Horrid and violent but compulsive viewing.

Back when I were a lad we were at the local fair one night when a similar occurance played out before me..........this lad was in Bruce Lee mode, full Kung Fu stance etc, another lad circled him gorilla style (skin head, flying jacket etc). Bruce Lee steps forward and bam......skinhead nuts him and Bruce is out cold. All that training.........you had to be there really.

One of the few advantages of being older, invisible to young bucks testing their testosterone (but, alas, invisible to young maidens, too!). I've been fortunate to have never engaged in fisticuffs, though struck in the face once as an adolescent only to have scurried off in fearful avoidance (apparently my own testosterone not having as yet collected in proper quantities to muster rage).

Learned the importance of the life saver earlier.

Travelling down a 20mph road with lots of speed bumps. The sort that it is possible to go around. There is a bike a few cars back and he seems to be staying there. Until I go around one and i hear the skidding of a tyre and the prat is on my right shoulder having over taken these cars in a narrow 20mph zone when we were doing 20.

Yes i should have done a life saver but his prat was asking to get knocked off. Hope it (nearly) knocked some sense in. Even if it hasn't it will have furthered the idea that all scoots/mopeds are ridden by the intellectually challenged.

Ugh, much sympathy. I think that sometimes other riders ride much too close. I dislike it very much.

I've made my own mistakes in that regard and now leave plenty of space, and if someone decides to ride close, I pull to the side and let them go.

It's those pizza delivery twunts that always seem to be too close for comfort.

i almost got taken out by one of those very twunts last week - he was Absolutely Determined to pass me, and decided that the best time to do it was as we were both filtering up a traffic queue on a very crowded road. of course the second he managed to pass he dropped back to his normal cruising speed of 18mph.

So who ordered the Double Cheese Feast with extra Cheese and Garlic Bread ?
