Rainex is great for about ten seconds, then it washes off.

Bill I think I said as much in the other thread, but in response to your question about a UK meet in 2010 I'd be well up for it, working on the assumption that I have an income at the time. My job security (which admittedly wasn't great to begin with) has taken a serious and irrevocable battering this month.

Well I'm fairly good at remaining positive so that should stand me in good stead when my CV assault bears fruit. Unfortunately it'll probably mean an unscheduled haircut. Booo to that.

Initial leanings towards East, West, or middle, Bill? I'm afraid my understanding of English geography doesn't extend as far as knowing whether places are shitholes or not, but I find the whole idea quite exciting. As you say, plenty time for musing.

I'm thinking a big eating house with a huge car park somewhere scenic with possibly an over night stay facility later in the year maybe August or September.

Maybe somewhere within the Kent,Essex London area but not because it's close but because it seems that's where the majority of MVers in the UK are.

I'd like to invite the Norwich crew as well because they are all lovely and good for a crack.

Also the South East benefits from the finest weather the country gets with the exception of the Moray coast, where the Sun constantly splits the sky in my experience. But that is far away for everyone, even the Dundee lad whose name escapes me right now.

Could Cambridge be good? Near for the Norfolks, nearish to dat London, the right side of London for all the Northerners, still far enough down for the good weather. Just fuel for the musings.

Oddly enough I was thinking about Cambridge or there a bouts.

It's North and East enough for most of us to get to and long enough for a ride.

I'm sure there there's a village around there that begins with a St something that I quite liked the last time I was there.

Then we got 'mercanized, when the school system adopted the Webster dictionary in favour of the Oxford.

I resisted the urge to gun it (I quite like sliding around on ice ) and made it up the icy hill no problem.

Train for me today. How early d'you reckon I can skive off home on the grounds of uncertain transport?

Xmas lights

Lovely lights.

Got to work in the snow in the Ka which just monstered up all the hills past all the people spinning their wheels and was only an hour late.
Most of the hold ups were caused by rear wheel drive cars,vans and HGV's getting stuck because their driving wheels couldn't get any traction but the little Ka did me proud once I'd dug it out of my own drive way because it's nose was lifting the front wheels off the ground.

I cleared our forecourt which with the shovel that I left in the car but soon after they closed the dealership so I drove to my local multiplex to watch Nativity and Avatar.

I sat open mouthed for 2 1/2 hours at Avatar not because of its very special effects but at the creativity of it all.
It was exceptional but I'm not going to expand any further for the sake of those people who are planning to watch it over the Christmas Holidays.
I'm going to see it again in 3D fairly soon.

An ordinary terraced house in west Ealing??? I doubt that

My house has two Christmas Cards up in it and that's it basically.

About 6 years ago I gave up sending cards and multiplied the money that I would have spent on them and gave it to 3 charities. Demelza House a local Hospice, Breast Cancer Research and the 3rd one I'd choose at the end of each year.

For me it makes alot more sense.

Excellent ride in this morning, marred only by the seat being completely frosty - that was cold!

i can't even get the interloper out of the road the pavement and steps are covered in a sheet of ice, as is much of the street. i saw a cyclist lose it yesterday and decided i didn't want to repeat the performance with my gorgeous scooter.

they're calling for sun and warmer temperatures tomorrow, which will mean a welcome relief from the disaster that is public transport.

Oh the street is covered in ice patches, but we've managed to either nip around them or go across them.

Mr WM bravely two upped yesterday so we could go Christmas shopping in town.

Train for me again today. If the ET4 would deign to start I could wheel it over/around the ice patches to the main road, but it's not happening with the 800. Most of the road is now clear, though, and it's safer to walk there than it is on the pavement...

We've had a bit of a dump in my area, but nothing to what you folks have had over there.
I went for a spin down town to the mail this A.M.

When I say spin, that was what happened.
Almost dumped the BV trying to avoid a cager who really went for a spin trying to take a corner with snow cover.
This type of WX is really not good for scooting.

I'll try again on Xmas day as it is to be 8 or 9°C.

I have just noticed from the window that South London and the City are completely obscured by falling snow - methinks I am getting the bus home, if only because of the visibility issues!

Good choice. I'm just looking out my window and it is starting to snow as I type.
The BV and GT are in their (garage) house and will be there 'til Spring. No more chances.
