You see, I hate the American media. The spin on this story is ridiculous.

I mean, they probably had a prior relationship but did they report that? Nooooo.

Strange day yesterday.

Went to adjust the valves on the X9 125 (elder son's). Of the five cover screws, one seized - in the cover (s/s sleeve), not in the cylinder head. Impossible with home-brew kit to get around that, so just replaced the other screws and (phew!) no oil drips.

Then went to get the rear tyre replaced. When taking off the 'swingarm' (it isn't really a swingarm, just the exhaust carrier but you know what I mean) it was obvious the bearing was shot.

Hrumph - this could mean major delays...

However, CBS Whitton had the tyre replaced AND the bearing replaced (with a Kawasaki one) within five minutes for both. At a good price as well - but I won't publish that here.

I don't know who I'm crosser with after this morning's ride in:

- the Citroen van that tailgated me all across Waterloo Bridge and through the Strand underpass?

- the courier who pulled a face at me for daring to maintain my right of way across a box junction?

- or the young man on a Runner who shunted some poor bloke's GT at the lights in Catford and knocked him off?

Ah, London commute, awful every day, in new and exciting ways!

"horse" isn't even an anagram of "donkey"...............

did you know that scunthorpe is the only town in the UK with a swearword in it's name......

and "newark" as in the nottinghamshire (yes, there are probably hundreds of newarks in the U.S. and beyond) town is an anagram of "wanker"

They charged him with buggery?? Thought that was a human to human type thingy.

I would have thought bestiality was the act with an animal???

The horse perhaps nuzzled him as horses are wont to do. He probably thought the horse was showing a fondness for him so he returned the complement.

What's wrong with a map and asking an old lady in the Charity Shop for directions ?

Well the Hornet sailed through it's mot and it's now taxed for another year.
I rode it into work with a huge smile on my face this morning.
My God I love riding that thing. I wish I could have two.
I did see a Honda CG 125 today at my local dealer that would be a brilliant rat bike that would get me to work and back. 3250 Miles - £600 quid.
Strokes chin.

Oooh... I've been thinking of getting a CG125 for myself and WM to use to convert to clutch and gear. We'd only need it for a month or so; perhaps some mutually beneficial arrangement could be reached?

Gotta be better than hiring them at £150pw!

Get a Star and you can do your A2 test on it (despite it being dog slow). I take it that the missus is oot, as I have sent her two very long essays via PM. PS I have been shopping.

This one is for sale at Retrospective for £699 OTR. Number 17

WM is indeed oot this evening. That's a great idea; even meets the PX desire, but I'm concerned its ability to get up to 50kph before the speed trap on the module 1 test would be rather limited. Do you know anyone who's actually passed the new test on one?

I'll let WM know she's got mail when she gets back.

Cheers,

David

Yep. Lot of people have. Check the Eddy Bullet forums.

And top speed is around 90kph. Usually. If not more, derestircted. (Remove filters, add Sito+ exhaust and upjet carb).

Ah... that'll be the problem, as category A demands 100kph top speed, so I can ride the SH300 I very nearly ordered at the dealer on Wednesday.

Given that the test isn't terribly expensive, I may do an automatic test now and another one again on a manual later in the year.

Lovely idea though.

Edited to add: It's just occured to me that I might be able to do the test on my SH125 to get an restricted A (auto), and then again on a Star or PX to just get the auto restriction removed. That would save hiring/buying a bike that does both things at once.

Yes I was out and because I was not on the scooter I was Brahms and Lizst. Revenge struck because I can no longer sleep after drinking, hence the early donk.

I see my husband sullied this thread with an actually useful discussion... and failed to make a decision on what sort of test he was going to do.

Anyway, decision made here to go shifty.

Thing is that the DSA DVLA had the Star registered as being able to do 100kph (even though it can't in restricted form because of its Euro 3 designation), so it is actually accepted for the A2. There is a post on the Bullet forums where everyone who used it got the A2, except for one person who appealed the decision - this was accepted and turned around within two weeks.

You can actually do the A2 on a PX 125 BUT you must have had it dynoed and prcoduce the paperwork to say it can do what it is supposed to do.
