Thank you Spider. That's the second offer of a loan machine that I've had this week but I'm going to aim for buying one before the rally and go cold turkey on the weekends in between.

I had a couple of hours riding on Hercules the folding bike this evening and down a country lane I found Atoms, a Lambretta and Vespa Specialist !

I must have stumbed on the smallest Industrial Estate in the World and nestled between a piant shop and a fabricator was Atoms.

Handy to know and only 6 miles from my gaff.
If it's not raining too heavily on Saturday I'm going to pay him a visit.

on a 300 the 1st service is 1000kms, next service is 10,000kms, i know because sarah's is going over to cheeky's saturday for the 10,000km service 8)

This is what I thought too. But when I had 10,000km service done on Tuesday the dealer said that the the belt was fine and he would change it at the 15,000km service I questioned his logic and he whipped out the maintenance manual and showed me the table, which clearly states a 5,000k and 15,000km service, with the belt to be changed at 15,000k not 10,000k.

Next time i'm taking it to Cheeky. 8)

Then they take the covers off, clean them, scrape the rust off and wave it about with no skill whatsoever.

On a 250 or 300, in practice the belt should last until 20,000km (12,000 miles). If in doubt, check it yourself at 15,000km (9,000 miles).

Hmmm I have no idea really. There is an "authentic" English pub in Orlando, FL called Cricketeers Arms that serves Bangers and Mash and what they brought out looked like sausage and mashed potatos.

Hell if you buy anything labelled bangers then they are made out scrotums and nipples with filler.

Yeeuch.

And that's why I don't ride a bike anymore - there's too much macho bullshit involved.

The problem with the Honda is that it's ugly and has no soul.

It has bullet proof reliability and you know every time that you punch that starter it will go and you can easliy run it at 80 mph all day long and it won't miss a beat but it belongs to people that have no passion about thier ride and lets face it this is the reason people buy Honda's, they want to get to work.
The handling is superb plus it's light and stable but it's cold and uninvolving and from every angle it still looks like a scorpion taking a crap and therefore it's not for me.
One of my rules is about a vehicle is that I want to be seen either on it or in it and I'd always feel selfconsious about riding Honda because it looks so functional and uninspired. There isn't any passion involved in it's design at all and for me it looks as if they have worked out an ideal upright riding position and worked everything else around that.
Just compare it to any modern Vespa for looks and I think you'll see what I'm getting at.
Stylish it is not but dependable it is. Sorry David.
Oh yeah I also want my scooter made out of metal and not plastic.

Well jesus Bill, don't hold back or anything.

I was holding back. Alright the lack of passion line was an act in generalising but you can't in any way describe it as being attractive.

I'm actually really glad I rode it because I can see why people buy them but I'd have to justify owning it in some way and lifes too short.

Great for Pizza delivery though.

I felt the same way about kidney cupcake when I grew up in England. Steak and Kidney cupcake? Why not just have bladder and colon cupcake? Would be about as tasty..

I had a similar thing happen to me last weekend. Took the Guzzi Lemans 850 out for an early morning ride up the coast. Headed inland up a canyon road for a fill of twisties. There's a short straight before the road starts to turn and on that some cementhead on a current sportbike shoots by me.
Then slows waaay down on the bends, holding me up. No place safe to pass, and I can see him checking his mirrors alot seeing me there, gettin pissed off. All the magazine tests led him to believe there's no way a bike 27 years older than his would want to pass...
Some people just....don't....get it.

Meh - I don't give shit what the pub's called - as long as it serves decent beer at reasonable prices.

Many years ago when I was a little braver I was on my way to the British Grand Prix on my BMW K100 RS which didn't have the greatest handling I'll admit but as I was approaching a roundabout when 4 performance bikes all overtook me at speed and then all started braking heavily for the enterance of the junction but because they all wanted to stay together they all waited for the first guy who for some reason was waiting forever to pull out.
So being a bit of a cock I dabbed the brakes lightly and took them all on the inside and left them all waiting behind me.
It wasn't big and it wasn't clever and I think I may have had a pillion but boy it made me feel good.

thanks ... no lacquer just paint then leave it to harden and polish ... you get a better deep shine with cellouse paint without it .. i think it give a fause shine like painted shoes instead of polished over time shoes .. if you can understand all that ....

Indeed, I remember some of my fellow Air Cadets applying Humbrol to their bootcaps when they should have been applying Kiwi Parade Gloss...

when i was in the Navy we had blokes that used to use whitener on there caps .. how we laughted when it rained and white streaks running down them

My mouthpiece has had a hard time recently.

I had an infected wisdom tooth last week and then soon after a crowned tooth fell out but to add insult to injury a couple of ulsers have come along for the ride to join the party with the sore throat that arrived late.

Yeah I've had a great time.

Genie may be a bit quite for a while as her Internet connection has failed somehow and it won't be fixed until later next week.
