Modern Vespa

Anyone going to organize an MP3 appearance at Biketoberfest in Daytona this year? Would be great to have a group of MP3s going down main street together. How about it Stickyfrog? Myskymizer? You guys couldn't make it to Chattanooga, but this is close to you.

My brief visit to bike week in the spring was great and I am interested in going back.

Fuzzy, it definitely is close to home for me....and if I can get to practicing more, it would be a Thrill for me to go. I've lived in FL since 1997 and have heard from biker friends that this event is NOT to be missed! Rain must stop and I must get in the saddle more! Rain is not my friend!

Might be doable for me. If I 'skip' a Thursday class in October, I could definitely head out on a Wed evening, make it to Atlanta on day one to stay with friends, be at my Dad's Thursday and head down with Fuzzy Thursday evening and easily be in Daytona Thursday evening to spend the weekend....

I had high hopes for a minute there, but we are off for fall break the week before. Welcome to the world of budget cuts. We have three personal days, but because the school has to pay for subs we are strongly discouraged from using them. No way I could get approval to take off for FL the week after vacation.

But didn't you hurt your leg on vacation and doctor says no walking(but riding is okay) for a whole week?

Looks like about 700 miles one way from Baton Rouge to Daytona. That would be an easy two day ride or an intense 1 day ride, but certainly doable. Lets keep the dialogue going and, if the job holds out, I may be able to make it and, who knows, maybe even drag a few more MP3's along with me. I would love to meet a bunch of you gals and guys, and it would be impressive to see a whole flight of MP3's riding down the main drag.

You guys gotta outdue the Spyder rally they did in Los Angeles for the opening of Transformers 2...over 200 there...so you go for it!!!!!

I'm in! The local scooter group here usually does a ride there every year and I'm sure this year will be no different.

It's mine. And you're right. There's a lot of fun to be had in St. Lucia where we're going to get married. Beaches, mountains, pools...If only I could bring the scoot...

And why, pray tell, can't you bring the scooter?? Its just a marriage and honeymoon fer pete's sake!

Just returned from St. Lucia - took the family (wife, son, daughter-in-law, daughter, son-in-law) for a week in St. Lucia. Stayed at Anse Chastanet. Had a great time. My son and his wife spent their honeymoon there several years back. They stayed at Ladera Resort.

A great time was had by all. I would definitely go back.

I should be in as well. I do like hanging out at the track watchin the racing and all. They normally have some decent vendors there as well, Don't know if the manufacture demo rides will be there normally in the spring. The swap meep flea market is pretty interesting to go to if you never been to a m/c one.

edit: forgot to add if you camp the infield of the track is very reasonable and there is security there 24 hrs. I never had any problems there. Also the is decent showers.

I already got my hotel room at the Marriott next to the SPEEDWAY. I would love to meet up with other MP3 riders for a good time in Daytona. Keep me posted! It sounds like alot of fun.

Will have to check when I get home. I know we are going to Maine near that time. Will check with the wifey. Will also see if vespa of st. augie is doing anything.

I'll be staying at the infield of the Speedway in my tent.

Man, I wich you guys didn´t live half way around the world. I would love to ride with some of you, have a beer and just listen to your MP3 experiences.

So far I have only seen one MP3 in my town and it´s the third largest city in Sweden.

infield camping at the track is good. the showers are decent and usually nto alot of people camping there. oh did you see camping is free with a paid admission for the races. there is also m/c demos there, vendors, hooters t-shirt contest outside of turn 3 and other stuff. Also this year for $40 you cantake a couple of laps on the road race course on your m/c or scooter, just watch out for someone draftin

Just a FYI

camping is free but the 1 day ticket price is $25 and $50 for the 4 day ticket this get you in for the races on the infield but does not give you pit access. if you want pit access the cost are almost the same

the pit access tickets are good for free camping also. I normally camp over at turn 3-4 on the infield but you can also camp outside turn 1-2.

Oh Fuzzy.....I feel so cheated. I will not be able to ride for some time. In the middle of July, I took a two hour sunset "MySky" ride, came in around 9pm, watched some TV and hit the sack. At 2am I woke up screaming in pain. My butt to my toes were cramping & the spasms were horrendous..I was alone lying on the floor trying to relax to lessen the pain. I have been doctoring, MRI's etc. Appears I have a lower Lumbar Herniated Disc and a genetic condition called Spondylolisthesis. I'm taking at least a dozen pills/day, wear pain patches and use a cane. This coming Weds. I go for an spine lumbar epidural then lots of in pool water exercises. If that doesn't work.......surgery. So sadly, I won't be making it to the event I was so looking forward to Don't even know IF I'll ride again...shoot,...I'm not even driving a cage!

alright folks Fuzzy and I had a great time this past weekend at Barber. So start making your plans for Daytona. t want to cmap at the track and go into town you have to buy a admission ticket and that will get you free camping and viewing races from some of the infield bleachers. If you want to get into the pit area and see the bikes and goings on there there is a different area to buy your pass/credintials at over outside of turn 1 here is a map of the booth to get your ticket http://www.ccsracing.us/venues/maps/daytonaregistrationmap.pdf

I like camping between turn 3-4 you can access thru the turn 3 tunnel easy and from the camping to the showers is easy 2 min walk. there are bathrooms insdie the turn 3 camping area.

The Orlando group will be heading over next Sunday. I will not be able to participate in this ride but I will have the store open later on Saturday ('till 5pm) in case you want to make your way towards Orlando. bummer I was looking fwd to meeting ya and pick your brain some. Fuzzy and I will be there sometime thur nite so if you want to come over afterwork we'll be set up in the camping area of turn 3-4.

edit I just checked when till I can get the pit passes and it closes at 5 pm so I will have to leave real early thur morn to get there in time.

OAD, Now that Matt has backed out it may just be the two fo us on MP3s. Amylind said she made a hotel reservation but has not opened my PM. Might have to ride to Homosassa or some place to find another MP3.

I'm touched Fuzzy. MySky has been lonely, in garage, up on stand, staring straight ahead....won't even glimpse at me should I walk past. Ouuu.....these sky blues can be sooo icey If I were going, I'd be a lucky gal to follow two experienced riders like you and Old as !!

Gonna be in Maine the whole weekend Well crying cause I won't make daytona but to get out of town for awhile...even without my scooter.

I sure hate to "bail" but it's scooter-this and scooter-that Monday through Saturday so the Epcot Food and Wine Festival with friends and family trumps on Sunday. Everybody needs a day off, ya know.... especially with booze!!
