What 80's tv show would you consider to be the most under appreciated? My vote goes to "My Two Dads," but a close second would be "Out of this World."

Don't forget "Check it Out," starring Don Adams. I loved that show, but not too many others did.

Though it straddled the '70s and '80s, I'll say WKRP in Cincinnati.
Most underrated sitcom of all time: Green Acres. |

I'm always too embarrassed to go up to him and say is that I loved Tales of the Gold Monkey. I think it's better that some of these shows have not appeared on DVD. I was also a huge Square Pegs fan (Johnny Slash, RIP!) but am now hesitant to go back and watch it for fear that it won't hold up to my memories. |

It took forever to come out on DVD, but season 1 is now available. Everything you saw on Scrubs was done here first. I'll order season 2 as soon as it becomes available. (I'll pass on season 3, it was "reworked" and "improved" by network executives and seriously sucked by comparison. ![]() EDIT: My bad. I just looked it up...the series started in 1990. ![]() ⚠️ Last edited by Menhir on UTC; edited 1 time

Bosom Buddies was great the first couple seasons, but really fell apart later. Before my wife and I started dating, we had a real bonding moment one night when we agreed that Peter Scolari was the funnier and more talented of the pair but didn't have Hanks' career because he was shorter and not as good looking. I told her of my plans for a website called The Scolari Files, which was going to be an alternate universe tribute to Scolari, with images of him photoshopped into famous Hanks roles. She later gave me a 2" thick stack of Peter Scolari press images boosted from the archives at the tv magazine where she worked at the time. Ah, young love! (I still have the stills but never got around to scanning them.)

They did musical pieces long before Buffy or Eli Stone, did theme episodes (black and white film noir ep.,"Taming of the Shrew" ep. done entirely in iambic pentameter)... Probably one of the most influential shows that people rarely seem to mention. I guess it most often comes up as the show that went downhill as soon as the leads hooked up, a cautionary tale for every tv show since. |
