I had to replace the battery in my 04 Piaggio BV 200 this spring. When I did I noticed that the odometer had re-set back to 0 and was in kilometers now.

I've finally gotten around to asking my dealer how to re-set it back to miles as I couldn't find the answer anywhere in the owners or shop manuals.

1. With the key off press and hold the mode button down
2. Turn the key on
3. It should switch it over to miles from kilometers or vice versa I guess

It had 1,700 miles on it before the battery died and now it shows something like 250 km.

And Piaggo says to pull the main fuse if you're not going to ride it for 20 days.

Why would you need to pull the fuse? I have a piaggio LT and i leave it for months without a tender. Just put seafoam in it and am good to go. I'm starting to have some electrical gremlins but the scooter was in an accident 3 yrs ago and the cops misplaced it. It sat a tow yard on it;s side for 2 months and water was able to get where it shouldn't have. I'm surprised it's taken this long but it still runs fine albeit the instrument cluster light show

The only reason I could think of would be running the battery down. But I wouldn't think the little bit of drain from the electronics would be much.

Somewhat bogus that the odometer resets to zero. What happens if you want to sell it? How do you reconcile the incorrect reading with the title or whatever?

Nope I've cycled through all the screens.

But the key off, mode hold down doesn't work.

I'll have to talk to my mechanic again.

Yup have battery tenders on everything now.

Dutch- Here's how to get it back to miles from km's.

With the key off, hold down the mode AND the clock buttons for more than three seconds. Turn the key to ON and keep holding the mode and clock buttons. You should see the word "sel" or something similar and the display will now read in miles.

Let me know how that works...

Bob

by the way... Where did you get the 20 extra cc's from? Razz emoticon

It shouldn't go back to zero because the battery was removed. Some type of malfunction happened to make it do this. I've heard of it happening one other time. My battery has been out as well as my entire instrument panel was unplugged and removed by my dealer when my head bearings were changed any it kept it's memory. It is designed- I think- like a car- there is something somewhere that holds the information in the computer while the power source is removed or disconnected. If anyone knows how this system works in a car- chime in.

You da man !

That works. I'll pass it along to my mechanic.

It didn't re-set my mileage back to my original mileage of 1,700

The odometer now shows 340 miles.

I guess I can't sell it until I get a least the mileage shown on the title back on it.

Wow- an '04 BV200 with only 340 miles... What a find. Nerd emoticon

Glad you're back in business!
