NO SCOOTER NO SCOOTER. Fun on Wheels Service sucks. First over a month ago they wanted to deliver it with no accessories that I had ordered. It has been over a month and today they wanted to deliver it. They open the truck and there is no Chrome mud Guard or Tall winscreen, only the Chrome Side Bars and Topcase. After I get my Scooter Delivered CORRECTLY I will not deal with them again.

Hmmm. Do I have this right? You missed out on riding your new scoot for the whole first month of summer because your dealer dragged his feet on installing several accessories. Now you are going to miss out on at least most of the month of July because your dealer has not installed a windshield that you really don't want installed until autumn and a mud guard. I'm certainly not trying to defend your dealer but it sounds like the bickering has become more important than the scooter riding. Maybe its time to take the scoot and the 2 uninstalled accessories - ride the scoot for the rest of the summer - find a more reliable dealer - and install your own windshield and mudguard in the fall. (just one scooter ridin' guy's point of view)

Scooter Henry: Installing a windshield takes about five minutes or less and do you really have to have the chrome mudguard right now?
If you get a "due bill" from the dealer showing that they owe you those items (including installation) you could be riding your scooter today! You're missing a lot of great riding days. Yeah, you paid for the items and you want what you ordered but at this point, are you really accomplishing anything? Looks to me like you're shooting yourself in the foot. Either get a "due bill" or have them refund the price of the windshield and chrome fender guard and start riding your scooter immediately. |

ScooterHenry, stop being a little bitch. I've probably sat on your scooter more than you have. I see it everytime I go to Funonwheels. It's been sitting there at the dealership for weeks now and you paid for it. Now you could be getting miles and smiles, and then head back when the parts come in for the install. I ordered parts when I bought my 300GTS from Funonwheels and I am still waiting for my rear cowl protectors to come in 3000 miles later. They put the order in and they have to wait just like you do. I'm not bitching. I'm riding!

Let me pile on a little more. Please think about the "other person" before you post.
A thread title "NEWS! NEWS! NEWS!" is extremely unhelpful to the rest of us who assume, when we click, that the "news" is something on the order of "Jesus Walks on Water" rather than the next installment of "Young Scooterist Has A Hangnail." But don't let this thread get you down. If you can get past the accessory issue, we have a whole lot of great scooter roads and fun riding going on in the DC area, and we welcome you as a new rider once your scooter is ready. |

After about 3 weeks or so of waiting and getting the same" were waiting for the parts to come in" "we don't know when" I call Vespa USA headquaters and they tell me they shipped from Italy by ocean freight the Chrome side bars and Topcase, but are out of the Chrome Mude guard till further notice. I call back fun on Wheels and they tell me they talked to Vespa and were told they were out of all accessories at Vespa till further notice and were looking at getting them localy from an independent dealer. Fun on wheels said they would call Vespa USA back on there own. I call a few more times Fun on wheels till they call me early last week that the accessories arrived and would call me when they were installed. Friday they call me that the accessories are installed and want to deliver the Scooter Saturday between 11AM-12PM. THey also said they would call before coming. Saturday at 11:58 still no call. I call Fun On wheels and they tell me the guy should be at my house any minute. Minute later he arrive. Opens the door and I say" weres the Windscreen and Chrome mude guard?". delivery guy(relative of owner) said "I can not believe they forgot the Chrome Mudguard and windscreen "It's right on the paper" "They should of checked before I drove all this way" I ask the guy what I should do and he says it's up to me realy to take delivery and write not recieved on the paper and come to my house to install the parts when they arrive to the store or take it back. I wait a minute and say take it back. I'm going to call fun on Wheels tomorrow. |

Seriously though... why not just take delivery of your scooter and then bring it back to the dealer later to have them install the accessories once they arrive? It took 3 months for the topcase to arrive for my GTS, that's just the way the Italians work. You can deny yourself the pleasure of riding for all that time and get bent out of shape about it if you want, or you can just do without the extras and enjoy the scooter that you've already paid for. Also, be thoughtful in how you deal with them, keep in mind that somebody's going to have to service your scooter when the time comes. Unless you want to take it to another shop that's farther away, you might be better off negotiating with them so that you're happy and they'll treat you well when you need them later on. Just my $0.02. |

What a bunch of fuss.....
I mean it sucks that ur scoot isn't juuuuust right, but it's still drive able. Why didn't you buy from Vespa of Washington? My transaction went nice and smooth with them. They even had everything I wanted in stock. I did order some parts for my husbands scarabeo from fun on wheels. The windscreen was in stock and shipped immediately, but the hand guards were not in stock. I had to wait for them to arrive from Italy, it took about 3-4 weeks. One thing you should keep in mind when accessories are shipping from Italy. It's not like shipping something to your mom across the country. The items have to go through customs and that can take time. I receive shipments and ship around the world. US customs are awful. Sometimes it'll only take one week for something to arrive from London, to my home in SoMD- other times it takes up to 5 weeks. There's nothing anyone can do about it. |

I seem to recall a thread last year where a guy purchased a scooter and some accessories at the same time. He took delivery of the scooter with the promise that the accessories would come later. The accessories never arrived and he learned later that they never would. He turned down another deal to get the "better" deal that included the accessories.
If the accessories are that important to the OP, so what if he waits for them? What is the problem with not taking delivery of something until it is the way it was promised? I mean really ... how hard is it for the tech to look at the invoice and make sure the customer is getting what he paid for? They said they would install the accessories, why don't they just do it? Is it really fair to push the responsibility onto the customer with the lame excuse of "that's just the way Italians work" ( ![]() (News, news, news is pretty misleading) |

Fun On Wheels did not give me out of this world terrible service. By all means no, but was not the best service. I know somethings were not their fault, but They knew what parts were on the Scooter both times they wanted to deliver. I'm thinkig of getting my money back for the Chrome Mud Guard and Windscreen and buying it from Vespa of Washington that is like a 20-25min tops ride from me. |

To some it seems silly, but I do see your point. I wanted my perfect scoot right out the door, too. My Vespa is my only transportation though, so I brought it home immediately, accessories or no.
But I was unfortunately reminded that one of the prices we pay for our wonderful Italian stuff is time. It seemed to take forever to get my accessories in after the scooter, which took nearly two months to recieve in the first place (I did purchase towards the end of the scooter-boom last fall, so I wasn't too suprized about waiting for the bike itself). I did order my accessories at the time I ordered the bike, so I could lump everything into the loan payments. I can totally understand about having to wait for parts... it really sucks, but sometimes even the best dealers can only sit and wait for them to come in. But it also sucks when they mislead you on what they have, can get, or really are waiting on. My dealer (which shall remain unnamed except in PMs) wasn't quite on top of things when it came to my accessories, either. I ended up calling them to ask if they had any ideas about arrival time for some pieces, and found out they already had a few things just sitting around waiting. Some pieces were on backorder, others hadn't actually been ordered at all to begin with. I had a horrible fiasco with them on my crash bars. They ordered the wrong ones 2 times in a row (wrong as in, wouldn't even fit my model), despite me handing them printed Piaggio part numbers with pictures. I was really irritated at this point, since they had my money through the loan, and there was nothing I could do about getting a refund to order from another dealer elsewhere. It took me almost 4 months to get everything straight. Hope it works out for you soon. It's very frustrating to have to deal with Vespa parts and accessories to begin with, and it really sucks if you can't even get ahold of them in the first place. Good luck to ya. And yes, definately be sure you're working with competent people when it comes to installing accessories. My dealer couldn't even install the windscreen correctly--it was mounted so low, it hit the legshield and I was unable to turn the bars enough to even lock them. The service manager also told me it would take a long time to install my crash bars "due to all the drilling involved." My look of horror must have been fairly good, since it shut him up pretty quick. |

Your welcome SCOOTERHENRY. I also think when you take possession of it the "accessories" then become a low priority and you have more leverage if they still have it. People tend to forget that all vespa dealers aren't equal and some of us have horrible ones or experiences. The fact that you were told it was ready and it wasn't would piss me off. Be honest. No harm in saying were still waiting for something rather than "oh i have it" Honesty is always better. Good luck.

Personally I'd have skipped the towel rails, CHiPS windscreen, and other tinsel and just took the scooter. Then I could have been riding ages ago and spent the accessory money on something sensible; fat exhaust, stripes, and a hooker at least
But it's Henry's baby, if he wants to wait ages, then allow him to do so |

Friendly people turn whiny and bitchy when they don't get what they pay for. |
