Hi Everyone,
Thanks again for all your help wth my questions. Here is what I carry on my GTS.
Stop & Go Plug Kit
Second Wind MTB -CO2 Tire Inflator
PlanetBike Mini Versai Hand Pump ( Really Cool )

Do they make jumping cables for my GTS. Car jumping cables are too big to carry on the scoot, then again:
CAN A CAR JUMP START A GTS VESPA SCOOTER WITH CABLES , OR DO YOU NEED SPECIAL CABLES.
I would like to carry somehing like that just in case I need a jump. Is there such a thing on the market for something like that.

Can a KICK STARTER be put on my scooter.

Like to know what you think,

Thank You All Again
Donna

I think you worry too much. Look after your scoot and it won't need a jump-start.

However, should you ever need one, any cable and connectors that can carry 30A would be just fine. It is very unusual for scooter riders to carry jump-cables, but surprisingly I found I've been carrying some "small car" ones around for some months on the Fuoco (typical jimc total neglect of clearing out the under-seat storage) and they were useful a week or so ago:

I only had them because of this problem:

Yep... these are the ones I have and carry. I just have them wire-tied to the chassis between the pet carrier bucket and the cowl. That way they are readily available without taking up any of the usual storage space.

you don't need much at all for jumping. I once had an issue with the battery on my X9 and because I had a topbox etc.. it was a big issue to get to the battery so I installed two wires about 4mm thick from the battery to the underseat storage to jump with, 2 metres long or less. I also used then to charge the batttery if the bike sat for long periods of time. I installed small connectors on them and made sure they were not exposed to touch each other. You could easily make up a small set for the rare time that you would have to use them with connectors of both ends as the battery on the gts is easy to get to. They would were much easier to store then those bulky store bought things. I'd roll them up and put then in a little bag in the corner under the seat.

I made my own cable using 10 Ga. wire and small clamps from Radio Shack / Checkers (had same clamps)...there was a link somewhere where I got this information...
regardless you can go to Checkers and check their battery dept. and find the same ready made (saw these after I had made mine).

~ cost $10.00

You hadn't done the back-plate mod?

No Jim, I did the backplate mod but it was still easier to have the wires sitting there and they doubled as jumpers. I found that riding with the headlights on Highbeam for long periods that the charging system never kept up. I also had the wires rub raw on the frame and lost the charging system , big yella, I loved the bike only once had that issue, repaired it with a few clips, some wire and a bit of tape, but never trusted it for some reason. There was always something that baffeled me like a weird noise or some warning light coming on, then having to shut down and reboot. All those lights that lit up like a xmas tree, greeted me each morning whether I wanted company or not.....I was releived when it finally sold. I loved riding it and could go for hours on her, do miss it when I have to do motorway stuff or put a bike on a stand in a crowded area. I loved the way it sat after 110kph. I also loved the electric stand, have they done that on any others, I never had an issue with mine.

Sadly, no more electric stands or intercom systems on any Piaggio. There still isn't a top-of-the-range all-round scooter to replace the X9 IMHO. Some excellent niche models, but...

I bought a set of motorcycle jumper cables from an autoparts store, they are small enough not to take up much room under the seat. Havent had to use them but I feel better with them since the GTS doesnt have a kick starter.

I carry is a 2m flexible tube tied into a small loop. I use it when I find folks (or myself) have run out of fuel. It's actually come in quite handy over the years. I also carry a small roll of tape - I've no idea what I'll use it for but I'm sure it will have it's moment.

I have a 6' x 5mm tube (this is used to suction patients on nursing floors) for siphoning fuel. I also have duct tape that I've wrapped around a medicine container (you'll find this useful to temporarily to secure stuff, I also reverse spiral rolled a strip recently to pick up a screw) and within the med. container I place spare fuses + connectivity tester + spare light bulbs. First aid kit, 10-' parachute cord x 2, cable ties x 2 and tire repair kit. I know it sounds like a lot...but it's not...doesn't take up too much space.

Good planning - use what you find in your normal expected environment.

Gawd knows what the basics under my seat now contain. Emergency fags ciggies and lighters, certainly. And water. But also other strange Piaggio-numbered stuff, and I know I can repair up to three punctures. And that's not even using any of the self-tappers...
