Just installed my FLASH2PASS opener in my MP3-400. SWEET No extra switches. Just hit the flash to pass twice to open the door. I'm putting one in the car. No more remote on the visor for the thief to steal. Check them out at http://www.f2ptechnologies.com

Now THAT is definitely cool! Thanks for the post... I have to check this out since I have been carrying my remote in my pocket and its a hassle - can't press the button right when I want to but it seems to press by itself as I drive away from the house...

WOW
I'm excited about this and confused as well (I see yas grinning....chill)!
Okay, so I have a one large door for a two car garage. They are advising to install a 2nd transmitter in the 2nd vehicle as well......BECAUSE you are replacing your existing receiver (on your garage wall somewhere inside), with Their transmitter's receiver. Hmmm....that means I have to buy a 2nd transmitter and when I move I should go back to my old setup? wonder if it's worth the switch. I really love the idea of NO tag along transmitter...great invention! 14Perry....will you share with us your install process? They did not list our scoots under installation help (not my Ridgeline either) |

Some further thoughts on this...
I have an inquiry in to the mfr on installation for this product. Seems like a no-brainer but I have to ask them... since I have a Diamond Star headlight modulator that is tied into the high beams as well as the low (dipped, for jimc) I think its possible a signal could be generated by the pulsed 12V when the brights are on with the modulator. A simple solution would seem to be a small and innocuous pushbutton discreetly located which I could run 12V to, then tap twice and provide the pulsed 12V for operation, but I have not gotten confirmation in response yet.
I am having a few second thoughts about this, not the least of which is the expense as myskymizer pointed out. There are many alternates that have been posted here ( https://modernvespa.com/forum/topic34826?highlight=garage+door+opener for one). A lot to be said for keeping the opener separate from the scoot too in case the entire thing were pilfered... or just put a remote elsewhere on the scoot, maybe even secured under the console with a stem push button to press it. Decisions, decisions... in the meantime I can get in and out of the garage, and that's really what I need for now! |

I like the idea of having a built in remote control opener, but wouldn't an elegant solution be to just velcro it on somewhere so you can take it off when not in use?

And the answer is...
BravoTwoFour wrote: I have an inquiry in to the mfr on installation for this product. "Thanks for the inquiry. Yes it will work with the modulator. You will just need to tap the high beam hot and ground wires "upstream" of the modulator. And yes, you are right; it is simply looking for two pulses of 12-volts. Your horn, your brake light, blinkers or an additional momentary switch would all work." So options continue to present themselves. I am reconsidering thechicgeek's comment on elegance and pondering a way to just mount a standard 15$ remote securely and discreetly, and make it easy to remove. That shouldn't be too hard to do. |

Here is my solution but not so easy or practical but I love it now that it is finished.

For Myskymiser
You do not lose the old remotes function. everthing will work as before. The FLASH@PASS taps onto the button wires on your garage wall. Old remotes still work. If you have an old garage door opener you can detune the old receiver, wire in the FLASH2PASS install units in all your rides (up to 5 units) and get the new code hopping benefits. To wire the unit in the car, scooter, or whatever take a testlight to a headlight and find 2 wires that light when the highbeam is on and off when the lowbeam is on. That's it. FYI, buy the AC adapter for the unit. The unit in the garage they say gets powered off the button wires and in some instances the existing opener doesn't have enough voltage ( Mine didn't) easier to have it on hand than to hunt for one locally.

garage door opener
Finding a place for my remote was always a pain in the butt. My solution was to buy a small keychain remote for my Liftmaster brand opener. It's no bigger than your typical keychain car door remote and I don't have to go into the innards of my MP3. Not all brands of openers will offer this option but I'm sure many will. Mine cost $35 with shipping.

I bought a small keychain door opener and it's on my scoots key chain. Small enough to put in my pocket when not on the scoot.

Yeah Jacq....your little opener fits that little handbrake space "perfectly." I remember seeing your post with pic awhile back. So, HomeDepot sells that Genie universal transmitter? Can you tell us how much? You have velcro to hold it there right?
