I'm doing a video that will go on YouTube but right now it is on a website of mine. Try this link:

http://15minuterule.com/test.html

It should work. We have more video of the 3 riders shown but didn't want to make it too long. I will do individual files for the riders so they can post their own file on YouTube.

There is also a bigger version but this one is probably too big and gets a little blurry:

link to file:

http://15minuterule.com/test2.html

Any suggestions are appreciated.

They were, but focused on them I didn't realize the camera was off. The video of you was after we stopped just past the accidents and were near the end of the dragon where it eases up.

Good excuse to go back and do it again.

BTW video taken with Cannon Elph attached to mirror stalk. Need a better mount point for less shaking.

Thanks for editing the video and posting Jerry.

Very cool guys! Looks like one good time. Thanks for shooting it and posting it! I just got to work after a nice cool ride in and this was the first thing I saw. Makes me want to play hookie and go for a ride.

Nice work Jerry...I wish I coulda stayed for Sunday, but work called. Oh well, like Fuzzy says, great excuse to go back again. It was really great meeting everyone and seeing their different styles of riding and using the mp3. The video was great. Next year it would be awesome to get us all in front of the waterfall on video, perhaps yelling out our handles on here .

Hmmmm...... In both cases, I am getting "stream not found". Anyone else having that problem. I am at work and behind a corporate firewall. I'll try again at lunch from home.

The videos do not show the tough curves. They mostly show the great looking country we were riding through.

Like i said, I need a better mount than the mirror stalk. Sorry, but it was all I had at the time.

I once tried wearing the cam on my chest with a neck strap and a tie down strap around my chest. It took a lot of the bumpyness out but i couldn't watch what i was videoing so some of the time you could only see my instruments and about 10 feet of road ahead...but when i did tilt it up a bit it worked pretty good...

be, be the mount

I don't care where you mount the camera. If you look at it riding the dragon you will become a statistic. That is why I went 20 minutes thinking it was on filming bdog. He was riding hot and it was all I could do to stay up. Would have been plenty of sparks in the video. When I filmed BubbaJon we had just seen 2 major accidents, one a fatality so we were probably slowed down a bit plus the twistiest part of the road was behind us.

Hey, that is a nice little video. Well edited and just fun to watch, really gets some of the highlights of the joy of this scoot across. Thanks for that, Jerry, you done good.

Lucky me, I get to ride a lot of roads like these (Oregon), and do so very often. Now if we could just clear out some of the cars and trucks that think I should have to share the road with them... Razz emoticon

Hmmm - I've been hearing good things about teh Canon point n shoots - I think the model I was looking at is a 880 IS or something like that? Be nice to have a capable camera when I'm not interested in luggin the DLR around. Not to mention it doesn't helmet mount very well

Years ago I used to have an SLR camera and all the lenses. One day I realized I was missing a lot of pitures because the camera was at home. That is when I bought my first point and shoot and have made size a major factor in every purchase since. I get a lot more pictures taken that way. Most of the time it is all I need and fitting in a pocket or on a belt it is no problem to have with me.

I have been very pleased with the Cannon Elph line which is what I currently have. One other criteria is to have a conventional view finder. Too often in the sun the screen will be too washed out to know what picture I am taking.

That camera of yours, Fuzzy, is a lot better than I expected it to be. I'm getting a Gorillapod to try my point and shoot out. I had been looking at mounting one of my movie cameras (a Sony Z1 and a Sony A1U) on the bike but found I couldn't use a car mount - which I had bought in doing a movie a couple of years ago. The vibration was too much. The only way, I thought, was to mount it on the rider. The units built for that are pretty expensive. Getting the shots you did mounting on the mirror was very surprising to me.

There may be some software that can reduce the vibration. I'm not sure about that yet. This experience has opened me up to trying new things like a helmet mount or something on the shoulder. It should be interesting.

Supposedly the new iMovie in iLife09 for teh Mac has software image stabilization. Dunno how well it works but someone is sure to have done a review. Be careful with those pod holders - my sister got me one. Matter of fact Jerry I gave it to that bike-girl that took our photo as I was fed up with it. If'n I'd known you coulda had it fer free!

I'm guessing the Gorrilapod is not the final answer but neither is the $100 holder I used on cars shooting my movie. I might use it to attach the camera to the top of an extra helmet I have (In case you haven't seen the movie I did, you can watch some clips at www.15minuterule.com Some of the links are active though we haven't promoted it much. I'm waiting to see if we can promote it with some other stuff I did.)
