I don't see it listed, but thought I would ask anyway: any chance on a Portofino Green pen? Both my wife and my scoots are in need :/

Of course my LX150's (BleuBelle's) Aurora Blue color is not on that list.

I thought 305/A was Portofino Green, there was a post on this but I can't find it.

305/a is the code for Portofino Green according to the wiki. And of couse verde is just Italian for green.

Sounds like they have the colour you need.

colors

Has there ever been a Brown Vespa in USA or is sienna or other code name brown. Just put a dark brown leather seat cover on a graphite
lx looks good, was looking for match on the plastic horn cover, I'm
guessing all pts the same size regardless of color. We don't have to go chrome to get a two tone Ride.

Poor, very poor! Crying or Very sad emoticon

Just trying to fix a nasty scratch in the side of my dragon red (colour code 894) 2012 GTS 300 with an original Vespa touch up pen. Ok, I wasn't expected to be able to get a perfect finish with a touch up pen on a scratch like this, but I expected the colour to be vaguely in the right ballpark.

The dragon red touch-up paint seems far more orange and flat than the original vivid red. I used several thin coats of the red paint to built the colour up and try to fill in the scratch slightly. Adding the clear top coat did improve it slightly, but teh colour is still off.

Not easy to take a good photo, but here's the best I can come up with. Has anyone else tried this and got any betters results? I thought it might be because the scratch was deep down to the black base coat, but trying it on other small stone chips the colour is still way off!

James
I'm sorry to see the poor result. It makes me quite hesitant to make a purchase as I also have need for the Dragon Red and would be unhappy if the end result were the same as yours.

Like James, I am curious if anyone has had better results with this product and would be kind enough to offer any tips to improve the results?

I've had good luck with the Scooterwest touch up paint. Found a tiny 1/2 a BB chip on a side cowl and used just a dab of touch up to fix it (didn't bother with the clear coat).

Touch up paint only:

So I've emailed SIP:
Quote:
I recently ordered a touch-up paint pen to repair a scratch in my 2012 GTS 300ie. The colour code is Rosso Dragon 894 and I ordered the appropriate touch-up pen colour. However I have found that the paint is completely the wrong colour red - it's actually far more of a dull orangey colour than the original bright vivid red.

The colour match is very bad - I have attached some photos to this email so you can see for yourself.

The scratch in the photos was quite deep, so I have built up a number of thin layers of the red colour and then have applied the top clear coat over the top. Adding the clear coat improved the colour slightly, but the match is still very bad. I am waiting for a couple of days for the clear coat to harden fully before I rub it back to hopefully give a smooth finish, but after seeing the colour match I think I might have to completely strip it back and start again with some different paint.

Please advise what I should do. I am very disappointed with the product, especially as it is supposed to be a genuine Vespa product and therefore the match should be spot on! How can the manufacturers product be such a bad match?
And they have forward this to Vespa:
Quote:
Dear James,

i just forwarded your matter to Piaggio direct. I hope to get an answear from the soon. Please do not blaim us for any delay on reply, but clocks in Italy are always a little slower then ours

As I can see on your picture the colour of paint 894 from your bike and repair kit should match perfect.
So now I'll just wait to see what they say. I've just been out to check on how the scratch repair is looking with the intention of cutting back the lacquer to get a smooth finish. But it still a little tacky even after a couple of days; guess I did put that last coat on a little thick to try and fill in the deep scratch for a smooth finish! I'll give it a week or so until it has completely cured before doing any more, and by then hopefully I'll have had a response back from Vespa....

Hi James,

I had a mess a couple years back on my PX150. Gas had leaked from a cracked fuel line and damaged the dragon red paint on the floorboards. I ended up following the suggestion in the thread below, that is to use a Hyundai color. It worked perfectly for me, and the paint and related products in this color (bright red) were available from a variety of sources.

Touch-up paint for your RED LX50

Good luck!
