My Stebel Nautilus Compact Air Horn arrived today, a week or so after the wiring kit did.

The blister pac has a DANGER label on the back. The printing is too small to scan, so I will type it word for word:

"This horn uses almost 20 amps of power. Most factory wiring and horn switches are designed for much less power. If you install this horn without the enclosed 30A relay and without a Heavy-Duty wiring kit and 20A fuse, you will destroy your existing horn switch and may ignite your wiring. Amanet will not warranty such damage, and is not liable for any injury or damage which may result from such an installation."

The topic of using a relay and the life of stock horn switches has been discussed before. This is a good warning for those who think they can just stuff the horn into the leg shield and connect the existing horn wires.

BTW, the warning on the package is ALL CAPS, but I didn't want to yell at anyone.

Installed Wolo Bad Boy (Checkers)...appears to be generic to Stebel Nautilus...required a 20 amp. fuse and relay switch. Used 12 ga. wire.

Recommendaton:

Connected fuse holder close to positive battery lead...easy access to replace fuse.
(see pic)

Disconnect positive lead while wiring safe for scoot and you should horn go off inadvertantly...or simply hook up the positive lead with fuse holder and leave fuse out until the end of install.

Do sound check before closing everything up...you don't want to go back in after the installation. Wear ear plugs...it's loud...moreso if you are working in a confined area (garage)...warn those around you when you do the sound check...secure all pets....

Why not just install a Stebel Magnum? Its PLENTY loud and doesn't require any additional wiring or relays.

It isn't AS loud, is an electric horn and not an air horn. It also operates in a different frequency range.
