If you're using the Vespa-brand, windscreen on their GTV (picture below):
1) Are you happy with it?
2) How tall is it?
Thanks!

I put the tall windscreen on this spring. It was very tall. Although seeing through it wasn't too bad when clean, if it's raining or a bit dirty the windscreen isn't very confortable on the eyes. At speeds over 45mph, I could put my hands several inches over my helmet and still not feel the wind!
I followed the instructions on the wiki for cutting the windscreen down about 3" and it's now perfect. The extra protection around the hands in still nice and I can see over the top of it. The wind now just skirts over my helmet so wind noise is still low, bug protection still high, and visiblilty greatly improved. The cut down windscreen per the instructions came out like an OEM job. I'm very pleased. I took off the original tiny windscreen last year and put on an aftermarket midsize, but it just pushed all the wind into my chest and head. It was better with the original. The cut down tall windscreen is in my opinion the best option. It's also very well made and sturdy. |

It measures 21 1/2 " from the top of the speedometer of the GTV to the top of the Vespa tall windscreen. We've have this same Vespa windscreen on our GTV for over a year and love it. The original flyscreen is worthless. I'm almost 6'8" and my wife, who drives the GTV most is about 5'8"-9" and wouldn't drive it unless it had the tall windscreen. It's very sturdy and way better and more sturdy than the same size off-brand screen that I have on my GTS. We just drove both bikes to 2 hours one-way into the mountains and can't imagine the trip without the screens. Rain is an issue, but you stay a bit dryer in a drizzle and quick wipe-down with a micro-fiber towel and you are good to go. I also stay away from glass cleaner and use Plexus to keep it clear.

Where are you in the upstate of South Carolina? We are just over the border south of Charlotte. You are welcome to inspect ours if it's not too far. There's a great biker bar/restaurant near us called Mac's Speed Shop. There's even a Vespa Veggie Burger on the menu. Let me know if you want to check it out before you write that big check.

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, this shield is going to be too tall and I don't want to have to cut it down. I've done this before and although I've done it successfully every time, I've always bought used shields to do this. At this price I'd have to pay for one of these, if I screw it up, it's too much money to risk just to get some wind off my chest.
I'm going to go with the 17 inch high Cuppini from Motorsports when they get it back in stock. Thanks! |

If anyone is running the full height screen (not cut down) please post a pic. I have yet to see a "real world" pic that wasn't from the official Vespa catalog like the one above. |

Karmann-I shot these photos of my lovely wife and GameShow Hostess-Barb as she drove in from her Spin Class tonight. Should give you a good idea of how tall the tall Vespa screen is. I am almost 6'8". I thought Barb was taller, but after checking-she is only 5'6". Hmmmm. Pretty short for someone 6'8" but I digress-check out the photos. This is the windshield that I measured from the highest point of the speedometer to the top of the shield at 21.5 inches. I do think it's amusing that she drives her GTV to teach a class where everyone pedals like nuts to go nowhere...
