I survived! Actually I'm still in quarantine, and i won't say I'm over it untill i have ridden Monica again, hopefully I'll be able by Sunday- Tamiflu willing.

Wierdly, apart from the normal flu symptoms it also came with a headache so bad my doctor thought it was Meningitis and put me in hospital for a night. All in all, not much fun. But i may have to get the t-shirt.

few cases in the four county area that comprises our 'region' or whatever. Generally not bad yet but its going to be around for a while. Thankfully its not near as severe as the 1918 epidemic even though the virus is distantly related

The fear in the medical community is that like the Spanish flu, it also started out not so bad. Then by the traditional flu season it had mutated as influenza does into a much more serious infection with a higher mortality rate than when it started. Hopefully this H1N1 influenza will not follow that same course, but it is our fear that it will. So far vaccine production is not meeting expectations which is particularly worriseome.

my Nan has it at the moment. A bit of a worry but she is a tough old bird.

It is has been doing the rounds in the local schools for a while now. Not sure but my kids may have had it. Both of them were ill with flu type symptoms last week after anti-viral treatment they are OK now. Only seemed ill for about 2-3 days.

(I am finding it difficult to distinguish between flu&hangover at the moment)

Crazy! I can now say that I know someone who had it!

No flus of any kind here. Pig, avian, etc. I think I'd be locked up in a vault here if I did, and not let near my daughter (14 mo)

No but i sweated it out when my friends son had it while i was in NY. He was in the car with us on a day trip prior to him coming down with it He missed his last day of school and a final. The school actually gave his mom a hard time and wanted him to come in and take the test

interesting that we were inoculated for a strain of swine flu while in the military back in the seventies. A lot of us got sick for 24 hrs, wonder if I got any long term immunity and if it might help with this strain

Yeah ... I was one of the first people in this area hit with it! I was out of work for a week, and took another week before I felt better.
It's something I really wouldn't have minded if it'd passed me by.

My 2 nephews were diagnosed with H1N1 recently - they were quarantined at the hospital and their home for a bit but all is normal now - us adults that were around the kids didn't catch a thing and hope it stays away from me. To bad for the nephews, our family will probably drop H1N1 jokes for the next 20 years...

Had it along with the rest of the office all this week. Thank goodness that is over - first wave and pretty mild. Headaches, sore throat, a temperature and some joint pain. Over quite quickly....

+2 Do not get complacent...mutated virus could have a very high mortality rate (Avian is estimate at 50%)...if you research it...there is reference to those who are prone to be more pick up H1N1, hence some may get it more readily...Tamiflu is already not helping some cases...influenza comes in cycles, with that viriants of original strain (that's the big concern)...don't let your guard down...practice Respiratory Etiquette and precautions...

Yup I had it recently but don't know if it was H1N1 , my doctor took a sample swab and gave me tamiflu. I came down with influenza 2 days after my wedding . As far as I can remember, I havn't had the flu keep me in bed for 3 days. Luckily I'm off-track from teaching. My wife caught it the next day Razz emoticon but she was only down 2 days. It took me 6 days to recoup.

Yeah I had it. I hardly ever get sick, and the first time I got sick in over 2 years. It came on fast and strong and was the worst flu I have ever had.

it took a week before I started feeling better, then another week to get over it. And it spread so quickly through my household and family

My husband and I got viral (not bacterial) meningitis in January. It was the worst headache I have ever had, until I had a sinus infection for 2 weeks in March It was a bad Spring. My husband's headache was so bad that I had to take him to the emergency room. Luckily, my son never got it; must have been some inoculation that he received.

I hope you get to feeling better soon.

I'm just getting over some kind of flu-like virus, but I think that we have Influenza-A as well as H1N1 flying around my part of Ontario.

It was the most mild flu I have ever had. Sore throat, fatigue, but as long as I popped a couple of ibuprophen, no other symptoms. As soon as the drugs wore off, the lovely rollercoast of fever, sweats, and chills. Take a couple more, and 15 minutes later it was as if nothing was wrong with me. Five days into this, and I am feeling pretty much back to normal now.

Have to stay off of work for 7 days, but I needed a rest anyways.

I'm not looking forward to flu season this fall.

just found out last night that one of my colleagues has it - along with both his kids, and about 30% of the children at the school they attend.

so far no serious cases among them, thank goodness.

this may sound flippant but i'm quite serious when i say that taking the scooter to work instead of public transport is an excellent precaution. when i was taking the tube to work i used to get sick about four times a year - since i started riding the scooter instead, i haven't had anything (touch wood). when i do ride the tube these days i carry a giant bottle of hand sanitizer with me and scrub to the elbows as soon as i exit the station.

Does anyone remember when the swine flu was predicted to hit years ago? It was in the late 70's - After months of hype and whtether thre was going to be enough vaccine to go around, yada, yada, yada. Anyhoo ...
it never hit, not even the tinest bit. The Carol Burnett show was on then, they did a skit that was hysterical adressing "swine flu" and reactions to the vaccine. Anyone here remember it??

didn't like, one person die form the actual flu, and 200 or so died from complications due to vaccines?

I had the flu yesterday...it was not fun, but I don't think it was the swine.

I feel much better today, and have even managed to keep my Lucky Charms down this morning.

No fever, cough, or running nose but fatigued and achy.

Maybe I should have paid more attention to this.
