Since I've owned my GTS 250 ( just over 18 months) I've never touched the shock adjustment. However last weekend took a passenger for a short ride with a view to longer rides to come and so this morning decided to crank it up a couple of notches. My god what a difference it makes to the ride, the sccoter seems a lot more stable especially when cornering and is like riding a different scooter.

Yep, I went straight to 3. One thing is that the back end can get skittish or bouncy if it is set to high. It can also add road buzz or harshness as well.

I run my LX on setting 3. I occasionally have the wife on the back as a passenger, and I'm a few pounds heavier than your average smallie rider. Plus, I like to sit a little more towards the rear on long rides, so I figure having the preload up a notch from the usual "2" probably can't hurt. I haven't found the ride to be too bouncy yet, and the handling is just as I like it.

This is perhaps the best explanation of the shock adjustment...see jimc's pic.

Not certain if on Wiki...but should be.
