I have a new vespa 300. When my low fuel light come on I filled it to full with only 1.7 gal. The tank is supposed to be 2.5 gal. Can I run another 45-50 miles when the fuel light come on in the future???

I've had my 300 for a month now & find that the light comes on more frequently than my GT 200 which was highly accurate. On this bike, I'll usually ride another 15-20 miles after the light comes on and fill up from that point has been consistently 1.85 gal. Gas mileage isn't as good, either but hopefully that will improve over time with break in.

Dougl65 actually has checked (this from GT fuel gauge and reserve warning light? How far to go?)

Just wondered. I have been doing some measurements. How much fuel is left in your tank when the light comes on?

I have slightly over 2 litres in my GTS 300 Super when the reserve light comes on, which is about 0.5 US gallons. Same display as the GT!

I have actually measured this properly by using the fuel pump to drain the tank into a measuring jug. The quoted capacity of the tank is exactly as stated - 9.2 litres.

I average 23.9 km/l so I now know that when the light comes on I can do a minimum of 45km before dry, and that is beng cautious. I can get 200km out of a full tank, maybe 220km - say 120 miles, and this in London traffic....

Harvey

Seems to me when they tried to fix some of the LX fuel gauges they still didn't work. What's up with Piaggio and the faulty fuel gauges At 1000 miles mine finally goes to 1/2 when full, up from staying on empty However when the light comes on i have about 20 miles at least that is accurate.

My low-level light is inaccurate also. Due to be "fixed" at my next scheduled service. Until it is addressed, the most accurate measure is to go by miles driven since last fill-up. Figure 150 to 165 miles per tank before you need to panic about getting stuck somewhere because you ran out of gas.
