Too many variables to be more than a ballpark figure--and you're in that ballpark.

Yay!!!!

With my 220-lb. bulk aboard in a slight tuck, my mechanically identical LX150 with a small flyscreen tops out at 67 mph (indicated... I know, I know), average speed on a two-way run on a dead flat road. I've done a few minor mods (Sito+ pipe, larger idle jet, and lighter variator weights) but these only affected acceleration. I tested before and after with no change whatsoever in the top speed.

on my s150 stock i was able to get it to about 70 on the spedo or about 65mph real speed, i weigh 130lbs and it gets there fast, but with about 220lbs on the bike it takes longer to reach the speed but on a flat it very well will do the same speed. my suggestion if you were looking to ride at this speed often go up to a 250gts or something. it will do it but keep in mind that the speed is acheaved with the motor at 100% and also on hills you can slow down to about 40 real mph. so be careful.

yea I love the leader 150 engines, the only reason I was interested is that the LX is dinged in the performance catagory when tested against other scooters. My LT will do 65+ and I hoped the 150S could do that also

I have a stock 08 S150 with 2500 miles on the odometer, the OEM top case, and a GPS on a RAM mount. Rider weighs 150 lbs. There are few flat roads in Connecticut and I rarely run with wide open throttle. The few times that I did, the GPS would get up to 60. My opinion is that this scooter is far more comfortable at slower speeds.

With my S150 flat out, it reads 67mph but GPS shows it to be 60mph (roughly 10% off). I weigh 173lbs.
Note that Vespa rates it at 59mph, so I doubt that you'll get actual 65mph from a stock S150/LX150. You're better off with a GT200 or GTS250-300, if riding at 65mph is the norm.

Sort of off topic I know but those speeds seem a little low, I know I have a screen but I'm also 6'2 and with luggage I am constantly hitting the rev limiter on a lx 125 (leader engine) at 72mph...

I wish I did 72 mph. I get to 65 no wind and flat out with a mid wind

screen. This is with a new fantastic spark plug.

On level ground with no wind at your back?

I've hit 74mph indicated DOWNHILL. That doesn't count!

I dont know what to say to explain the discrepancy between what other people have seen as top speed and what I've seen, but I hit GPS verified 83.7 on my lx150, with only a couple of small mods.

Granted, it was on the fwy, downhill, full tuck with a semi in front of me to draft off of, but I just dont get this whole "mine does 60 mph" thing...

Call me a liar if you want, but thats what it hit..

I hit the limiter downhill more than on the flat but I do on the flat, with the turbulence abord an lx at 70mph I have no idea where the wind is comming from

My point is that the 67mph indicated that I see on my LX is the average of two-way runs on a known level road. That negates the possibility of any wind influence.

When the top speed is limited by aerodynamic drag -- as it normally is on a Leader-powered scooter on level ground -- a little bit of wind can make a big difference one way or the other.

Even a cyclist on a downhill, tucked behind a semi can hit upwards of 50-60mph. This doesn't mean that he/she can do that "top speed" under
all powered, non-assisted conditions.

Normally, the top speed is defined under non-assisted conditions (ie no tail wind, no downhill, and no drafting). Thus, the Vespa spec of 59mph, which can vary depending on the weight of the driver (which Vespa doesn't specify).
So, in my case, I know that repeatedly, my S150, on a flat road, without wind assistance, and non-drafting, it can reach/sustain 60mph, as measured by a garmin GPS.
