Okay, someone at Piaggio messed up or I am very stupid.
Just picked up my new GTS300 today. Aside from almost going arse over teakettle the first time I accelerated (because I had been riding an LX150 before this) I cannot find a damn helmet hook on the thing.
AND my helmet will not fit in the seat well it's too narrow!
I have a Scorpion EX400 helmet (full face) which fits just fine in my LX150.
So why is the bucket narrower in the GTS? Or am I just hallucinating due to breathing the exhaust fumes from my new Yukihima (Snow Princess)?

Take a look at the front of the helmet bin. Does it have two "plastic spikes" about 3/4" long? Put the d-ring over one of those and close the seat.

Helmet locked. Pictures here: [topic6754]

cheers

Thank you.
I had noticed those, but as they appeared to feed into two recessed cups, I was afraid that the helmet's d-ring would not fit if the seat was closed.
You sort of expect to actually see something, well, hook-like...
Much grass.

Hehe, excellent! I was considering shelling out for a top case just to store my helmet when I wasn't parked at home. Why isn't this mentioned in the manual and why didn't my dealership tell me? Works great! Thanks for the tip.

Yes, well, but what about this helmet? The freakin thing does not have a "D" ring. I have a top case, but, what if I want to use the top case to store stuff in?

Love the helmet, but, really wish I had thought out the whole no "D" ring issue. . .

I still think that for 20 bucks, this thing is the most convenient thing- walk into any Harley dealer and they have this on hand. Once you mount it you'll love it-

Easy-peasy. Lay the longer strap over the pet-carrier rim so that the 'tongue' is just inside and close the seat on top of it. It should remain restrained. Depending on individual scooter body and seat shapes there's no 'one way' to do this, but it is feasible on every scooter I've seen.
