I am 30 and I kind of like Miata's. Should I be worried?

What is happening to me?

There is some kind of strange correlation at work. Miatas and Vespas.

I owned and dearly loved a 1990 Mazda Miata from 1993 to 2013. My wife would tell anyone who cared to listen that the paint color was "mid-life-crisis-red". Gave me endless fun in the spring, summer and fall. Never a mechanical issue in all that time, other than a clutch master cylinder, which was a cheap and easy fix.

Then came my dragon-red Vespa LX150. They made a nice sight nesting together in the garage, virtually a matched set color-wise. And from that moment, the Miata sat, and sat, and sat. That's cruel. A car, especially a high performance car (yes the Miata is a high performance car), needs regular exercise.

So, with a heavy heart, I sold my Miata to a very close dear friend, who is having the time of her life with it. It was a tough thing to do, and I put it off longer than I should have, but it needed to be set free.

Vespas and Miatas. Better than strong medicine, and perfect prescription for curing mid-life-crisis.

So if there was a bumper sticker which announced that you were having a mid life crisis what would it have on it ?

I was thinking of a collage containing a Porsche Boxter or a Mazda MX5/Miata next to a pair of leather trousers with maybe a baseball cap (UK only ) or a pony tail above a packet of Just for Men next to a too young paid for girlfriend and a letter from the CSA ?
Weekend kids as well ?

Maybe some divorce papers thrown in for good luck ?

Discuss.

Mine would say Peripheral Arterial Occlusive Disease, Five days in critical care was my midlife crisis.

Fast rare roadster, rare vintage Vespas and Lambretta,...I have never considered having those a crisis! That's the benefit of working, saving money, and enjoying life...no crisis there!

I began at age 20 and never stopped driving open cockpit roadsters. What does that mean?

The joke in our house is that I'm currently on my 3rd or 4th mid-life crisis. Hope to have many more!

I'm in the middle of shopping round for a new toy, and MX5s are pretty high up the list.

As I was setting out on my mid-life crisis trip (Rt 66), I had the following conversation with my lovely wife, bless her cotton socks:
Quote:
Wife: Look honey, while you're out there by yourself on the road, you might meet some young, pretty girl. And you might be tempted to, you know... have a little fling.

Me: Um, I really don't think...

Wife: No, no... I'm telling you this because I understand what can happen on a mid-life crisis trip, and I want you to know you have my blessing. If you meet someone and want to have a mindless fling... go ahead. Get it out of your system.

Me: [shocked] Really?!

Wife: Of course................. But if you do, don't even think about coming home!

Here is my midlife crisis. The only problem is I've been riding these since I was 18. So I'm not sure it qualifies. As far as divorce goes... No WAY! I'm the luckiest guy I know. I've got a girl who's built for speed and she not a 20-something airhead. She's a keeper!

Maybe for a midlife crisis I should buy a Toyota Corolla. LOL
