My Shoei helmet was bothering me in Chattanooga so I tried another helmet - the Nolan 102 and thought it worked great but they didn''t have the color I wanted so they shipped it to me this week. I love the helmet. The peripheral vision is MUCH better and I love the comfort and visor system.

The only problem is the size. I can't get it under the seat or in my topcase and the chin latch is the kind that doesn't have a ring you can lock under the seat and let it hang out. How do you guys secure this helmet when you aren't on your bike? There should be some kind of lock but what is it?

LATER EDIT: After posting this I found a cable lock system that will go through the flip down chin cover. If you have any other suggestions, I'd like to hear them.

I have the Nolan N102 in size XXL (I think that's the biggest size they make?) and it fits under the seat of my 500 just fine. Are you sure you're putting the helmet in the way it needs to go? When on the right side of the bike (the muffler side) lay the helmet on it's side bluetooth module down with the chin portion on your right. The opening of the helmet should be facing you. Make sure you put the opening of the helmet on the hump that partially sticks out from the side wall of the storage compartment.

I think there are pictures illustrating what I attempted to describe somewhere on the forum.

My N102 XL can fit into the trunk of my 250 without any problem. And just for info purposes, Nolan now have N103 and N43 which have the sun visor on the inside which doesn't gets affected by the wind when it is up and you are riding at a high speed. The N43 can be used both as a 3/4 and a full face as the there is a piece (covering the mouth) which can be dismantle to be turned into a 3/4 helmet. Crying or Very sad emoticon Wish I could have them both. Crying or Very sad emoticon The next thing that Jerry might be thinking about is the N-comm bluetooth set that can fit nicely to the helmet.

Jerry, there are several makes of flat aluminum T-shaped lock adaptors available. I can't find the link at the moment, but basically the long end of the T fits through the lock end of the Nolan buckle.

Then you can padlock the end of the T to a cable, or your handlebars or whatever. Most bike shops carry them.

OK, so I AM THE DUMMY. Thank you, Lim. I went back and tried again and it does fit. I was raising the chin part to take it off and trying to store it with it up. I closed it and the helmet fit under the seat.

Still, I'm glad I got the cable lock. When I travel I strap my bag over the passenger area and don't like to unpack to get under the seat. When I read about the cable lock one guy said he liked it because he could run the cable through the sleeve of his jacket and his helmet. I liked that idea for when I go in some place to eat or rest a while. This is the cable lock I found. It isn't expensive - $16 plus 6 shipping:

Normally the helmet stays in the topcase, but I've used this a few times.
