Anyone use these? I go to the beach and use one of these to store a key which I lock to the MP3 (either underneath where a tow hook appears to be or on the rear seat bars).

The problem is that the key with the remote unlock is such a large key that it does not fit in these standard key storage lock boxes, so I place the master key in there which is smaller. Not exactly ideal, but it solves my problem of going to the beach and losing my keys in the ocean (or it being stolen).

Does anyone use this as well and have you found a lock box large enough to handle the standard key with remote?

Looks like the Master Lock 5400D might work.

Hi Mate, I prefer to conceal keys from peering eyes.

This is hands down the very best key holder you can "Hide" on your MP3.

They cost about $2-3.00 and will last for years. Clean off the area and stick. I don't sell them, though i am sure your local locksmith will.

I have them on every scooter i own, it would be silly for a locksmith to misplace his own keys Never have.

Just my 2 pence.

Cheers

I like the key lock box because I also use it on my truck and attach it to the tow hook.

I go out outrigger canoe, swim, surf, etc and not out for very long. It's simple enough to put the one key onto the key storage and lock it to the rear tow hook.

I shy away from the hidden compartments, mostly because where I'm at, its heavily populated and folks nearby would actually see me stowing away the key.

It would just give me a nervous feeling that entire time in the ocean and sometimes it's better to have full concentration when out there.

I have the master version which I use at a second home. VERY secure, but large and heavy.

I use Jimh's key case with a dumb key (one with no transponder) this will only access the seat and gas door. Inside the seat's tool wrap is the transponder key. On my SUV I use a "Hide a Key" unit, the flexible cable make hiding it easier.
