Hi,

I have recently taken delivery of my new (to me) Vespa GT 125 and have noticed that when the ignition is off the "code" light keeps flashing red (with an without the key in the ignition). I am assuming that this is intentional and designed to show others it has an immobiliser - is that right? I am also assuming that this flashing light will not flatten the battery if I am not using the bike much.

Hoping to have the first ride tomorrow - assuming the weather is OK!

Cheers,

Dibs

Welcome
Welcome to Modern Vespa. And you are right on both accounts. Might wear your battery down if you don't use your scooter for the next 3 years or so.

Light goes out 48hrs after the last time the ignition was turned on.

The light will stop flashing after a short period of time.

It flashes for 48 hours and then goes to sleep. It's in the manual.

Someone else may very well answer this before i get it typed, but that's normal. the flashing red light basically says "hey, this thing ain't gonna do anything if you try to start it." It will turn itself off if you don't start the engine for about a day, so nothing to worry about.

Welcome and yes it will go off in 48hrs if you don't use the scoot. It also will blink in code if something is wrong with the scoot. Refer to manual on what the different blinks mean. Have fun with your new scooter.
