Just signed up, wanted to say hello. Tomorrow I am hopefully picking up a 'new to me' GTS 250. As long as the bike matches the owner's description...
I've had a scooter in the past - a Kymco Cobra 50 that a lady in a truck running a red light killed. Almost took me out too! But hey, it wasn't the scooter's fault!
Anyway, currently ride a Ducati, Harley and dirt bike. The Vespa will be a perfect complement and my pick for the around town ride. What got me hooked again on scoots was the Long Beach Bike show where mfgs had their demo fleets. Out of all the bikes I demoed (everything from KTM 990 to Guzzi Vintage to Harley XR), the two that I had most fun on were the MP3 500 and Yam Tmax. Couldn't wipe the grin off my face after that. Nothing like a fun, carefree ride.
Decided on Vespa for I'm sure all the same reasons you lot did too, as well as the fact that I did not want a super scooter as, well, for me the whole point is to NOT get a scooter as big as my bikes!

This is a great site, and I have already read up on stuff like recalls, basic maintenance checks etc.

Later!

Welcome! You're gonna love it here and love your Vespa. Be sure to check out the Wiki and learn to use the search. There is a wealth of information already here. Of course, questions and comments are always welcome.

Howdy.

You'll find plenty of ex and current Motorcycle riders here, so you're definitely among friends.

The last year I had my motorcycle I put under 2,000 miles on it.

The first year I had my GTS, I put 8,000 miles on it.

I believe that may tell you something.

Two paraphrase George Orwell "Four wheels good, Two wheels better".

Bought it!
Bought it this morning! Proud owner of a 2007 250, yellow. My gf has already christened her Daisy...
Picked it up in Santa Clarita, rode it down the 14, 5, 405 freeways to Venice Beach. It was 100 in Santa Clarita! The temp gauge stayed in the middle, w/o any issues.
Completely fine on the freeway, more wind protection than my Harley Dyna (which also has no shield but does not have lower bodywork like the Vespa).

Freakin' lovin' it!

Don't want to burst your bubble Desmolicious but...
1) Your girlfriend already named "your" scooter
2) Looking at picture 3 she loves it

Cut your losses short and start looking for another scooter cause that scooter is already hers.

Oh man how cool is that, ridding your vespa to be beach.
Love the color, enjoy.
