I accidently left the back helmet compartment slightly opened and it drained the battery.
Anyone know how long it takes to charge up on the battery tender? I left it on overnight, and I am only getting a buzzing sound, with no charge.

Before tender, it was completely dead. Any thoughts?

Battery tender isn't a high current charger, it is a trickle charger. It is designed to keep the battery charged not charge it from a discharged condition. There is a possibility that the battery is damaged. See if you can borrow a neighbors car battery charger and charge it for 5-6 hours. If no change after that, buy new battery.

Make sure the charger isn't set for more than 2 amps.

I don't think this tender can be set on amps, it is set already.

A portable, automatic battery charger would be a good investment. Walmart or Sears. Not much $ for base model which is probably all you would need.

A conventional lead-acid battery left fully discharged for three days can be considered useless for further productive work, sorry.

New battery required, remember to fully form-charge it before using in anger.

I think I have the same problem on the back hlemet comoartment but only left open for one day. Think it still can be savaged?

Typically how long does a battery last & what is a good recomendation type or make of battery similar to the factory fitted one?

Just one day (especially if it wasn't fully discharged more than a few hours) and it might be OK.

Wet lead-acid batteries typically last about 2-3 years in scooters (mine at least), so if it's already some years old I'd be watching it for poor performance from now on, especially if you are entering a cold period - but Singapore doesn't have that problem.

Yuasa is one good manufacturer.

While were on the battery topic. If your battery is serviceable be sure and check the water levels. Add distilled water up to the indicator mark. I have pulled many riders batterys to find them bone dry

MP3's come with a sealed battery and should be replaced with the same.

Thanks guys! Mine is original maintenance free frm yuasa YTX-16BS so no top up water required.

Got it when it was one over years old so by now battery is 2.5 years. Almost 10k km. I guess it is due for change.

Just curios how much does one battery cost at your location?

That battery should be OK for another year or so if it comes back OK after a charge-up.

Batteries here are between GBP30 and GBP45 - do your own conversion. Razz emoticon
