It happens to us all.

It is a shame that some people will try and drag down competitors because they can't figure out how to be profitable.

indeed. My Piaggio MP3 rental ad has recently gotten flagged as well but it's Craigslist... anyone can flag your ad at any time for any reason. To assume it's anyone in particular is probably human nature but not necessarily true.

Having a bad hair day? Flag that ad!

I only flag ads that are obvious scams.

Aren't dealers not supposed to advertise on CL? I've never flagged any of yours that I've seen posted, as I don't see rental services being lumped in as the same as dealers. The SJ and SF shops seem to be pretty discrete about their CL postings, but there's another SF Bay Vespa dealer who is quite forward with their use of the site to push their product. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't flagged a few of theirs in the past...

CL is open for all to use. They don't have a separate section for the dealers of motorcycles like they do with autos/trucks.

I try not to be obnoxious about my ads by not spamming or top posting. I have a very simple yet descriptive title that should be enough info for people to decide if they want to click on my ad or not. Why my last MP3 rental ad got flagged is a mystery to me... but I'm not upset about it. It's part of using the site.

It would be cool if people would contact you about what it is that bothers them.

A lot of people rent them to decide if they want to buy one and are interested in a longer "test" ride.

I've found CL to be a lot more effective than other methods of getting the word out and for a super small business like me it fits in the budget.

I just don't see the point of a public rant like that.

The sad thing is that some people can't deal with direct confrontations so they resort to other means of sabotaging people. The Internet is a perfect place to remain anonymous while inflicting pain in others. Don't take it personally. You are dealing with a coward.

Original Post response: The overall perception of that post doesn't sit well with me...somewhat nonprofessional in his/her approach...

FYI. I'm not certain about the CL criteria for posting but I did have a post to help those who were anticipating purchasing a Vespa (i.e. red key / blue key, Bill of Sale documents, etc.).

Believe I got two flags (you get two and your posting can be remove)...I believe one who was selling an LX150 (who I did visit and left out the damage on cowling in his post and pics)...then someone who had an issue of moped vs. MC licensing???...strange people out there...be careful.

I emailed CL to ascertain specifics on why posting was pulled...no response...I guess they have the right of not responding...they got more pressing issues to address at the present time.

CL won't respond (generally) to people asking about why their ads were flagged. For that they have the forums... but you need to have thick skin if you're going to ask for "advice" on there.

That's the impression I got...I was warned by a good source who used CL that "all is not as it seems when dealing with some folks on CL"...I really didn't know what he meant until I showed up to inspect a scoot and no one was home...tried to follow up...no response.

Source kinda chuckled and said, "Some folks just get off on jerking people around"...he's had that happen to him.

Hence, your original quote...why bother...just hope that potential Vespa owners will access MV to ask for advice so they're not taken.

They should have a way to flag something "obnoxious". Of course then there would not be many posts.
