Modern Vespa

Was on me scoot this morn. Riding up hill taking a left bend in the middle of the bend theres a road joining from the left. The sun rises in front so you do it slightly blind, so there's no way youre gonna speed it.

Anyway I say this woman start to pull out of thr lefty and stop . I slowed and pulled out to go round her so she put foot down to beat me Faaaaaaack as i skidded on both wheels right up to her door just managed to stop mils away staring right at her (she could'nt see me as I have an irridium visor) then off she shot as if I wasnt there leaving me stalled in the middle of a busy road with cars blowing at me as I kicked me scoot back up.

People like that should be banned. All I could think was Im no gonna drop it this time I've just got it right and I dont wanna bend me forks. It's amazing how it all slows down.



So just a note .... No matter how confident you feel on any stretch of road keep your wits about you cos it will not be your fault.
I feel soooo lucky

substitute 'distracted twat of a bloke on a cell phone' and you've got pretty much the same thing that happened to me three times on the way to work on friday. oh sorry the third time it was an old gentleman who could barely see over the steering wheel. and i didn't stall it

idiots are idiots, male or female.

if some jackalope is gonna stop in the middle of the road for any reason, dont just think..."oh i will just go around...." just stop. i cant tell you how many times they stop for no freaking reason only to just start back up and take the whole road to do it. slow down and let them hang themselves. you should never be in such a hurry to just get around another somebody that you take chances thinking you know what they are going to do.

Consider what we are dealing with for the next 6 weeks. Some 5,000 to 7,000 additional cars on the road, and they are all in a hurry. Then there are a couple of hundred 4 wheel ATV's operated by our visitors, tooling the roads at 30 - 40 km/hr max. And, last but not least, all kinds of scooters and motorcycles, being ridden at either twice the posted speed limit or half.

All this squeezed into 85 square miles.

I slid under the back of a car at the begining of the year after he slammed on for some kids fucking about in the road. So I'm still very weary about cars at junctions. I pull nearer the middle of the road to make me look "bigger" so I'm in their line of sight hopefully.
I pulled into the middle as she stopped and I could see her looking at me. Its easy to say just stop but when you've got a line of traffic behind you I think I'd squish easily from behind
