and it was interesting to see how DIRTY the poor thing was! 01 reg, runs beautifully.

My question is, what do you guys use to clean the insides? the old dab of the fairy liquid (dish washing liquid) isn't quite getting it done. I tried my best with the cloth but not really happy. Next time I get inside of her (no pun intended), I want to give her a good clean out.

BTW it was the first time I took her apart and put her back together. Feel proud of me! lol

you can get stuff called 'engine degreaser' - spray on, rinse off. don't use a pressure hose inside the engine compartment!

Yea I had to change a couple of bolts due to ceasing but glad that I had quite a few bolts here and there to change em.

yea I need to invest in that, need to prevent my parts from ceasing.

When i had mine in bits i simply degreased the insides and left to dry.
Then i applied waxoil everywhere to guard it against rust, especially under the foot rest where water builds up. I also did the underside of the bike while i was at it. make sure you wear some old scabby clothes though. It is horrible stuff (like tar).
Hope that helps

While I can't say I've taken my LX apart, I have removed or disassembled almost every body part at some point in the last couple months.

I've discovered a lot of odd, funny things. Some indication of every mechanic who's ever touched it. A few missing or odd things. Discovered the sources of certain rattles and noises. My name written in permanent marker on the inside of my headset. A broken connector for the side cowling that was fixed with tiny zip ties. One of the bolts for my rear rack and grab rail isn't actually bolted to anything, just poked through the hole on the back.

okay so simple green people.. which of the simple green products do I use? I want to try it out.. I've found a place that sells them in the London.

Partridges on the Kings Road. Probably the only grocery store with an upper class feel to it. lol But there were so many to choose from.

It took me.. i think.. just under 5 hours with a bit of help from the mechanics I am working with. Everything was fine but just REALLY DIRTY, dust and dirt build up was near to stickiness!

Be very careful if you use white spirits or brake cleaner as I have heard this type of thing damages rubber seals ect. When I took my ET4 apart for the first time 3 weeks ago it was off the road for 1 week . Congrats!

I don't think I will use white spirit. I'll try some other stuff see which ones work out better.. I bought some T-cut today to use on the chassis and chrome that I have on the scoot. hopefully when I am done I will have a beautiful bright shiny thing.

Today someone called my pearl ET girly.. I was a little offended but hey! lol

Its not girly issit?? lol

I think the pearl white is one of the most beautiful colors that Vespa has ever used on their bikes. The iridescent blue shimmer it gives off in the sunlight really is stunning. In fact, I was just admiring one on the ride I went on this past Saturday. If I were ever to buy an ET4, I'd want it to be that color for sure.

Eh, no. I get that occasionally from people about my Aurora blue LX. I like it, so F 'em.

Though I have to say the roundness and curvature of the ET is a bit more feminine than the newer modern Vespas.
