Regarding installation of a 12 Volt Outlet -
outside of using the knee pads - are there any other suggestions that might work equally as well? Outlet to be used for GPS device, charging phone....

Thanks.

I've seen pictures here, (can't find them now) mounted inside the glovebox on the left side, often just above the fuse box.

Have a look at this product which is plug and play from our sponsor Motorsport Scooters.

Oops, sorry, I misread your question.

Check out this thread I think the powerlett is a better solution than the 12V plug but that is your call LINK

Jess Mounted a Powerlet receptacle on the underside of his headset cover, on the left side near the brake handle. Plugs in a GPS there.

For that connection, I actually used a 12v barrel connector from Radio Shack. It's small, and mounting it on the underside makes it less susceptible to weather. And just to be completely up front about the whole thing, I stole that idea from Curt Fargo.

I've mounted cigarette lighter sockets inside the glove box, on top. I've also mounted a USB power outlet inside the glove box. On a different bike, I've mounted powerlet adapters in the knee pad. Both work quite well, it just depends on preference. The inside socket is nice because I can put my cell phone in there and charge it while I ride.

I really wanted to run the powerlett plugs inside the top case to power all of my items in one place. I have not seen anyone do it yet but it would be cool to charge your laptop, phone ect. I would think any of these would work nicely. LINK PTB-004
