I ride an '05 GT200L and I LOVE IT!
If you are not a speed freak, It is a great, all around scooter. It has plenty of get up and go for most situations and can cruise easily around 70mph if you choose to do so. There is plenty of pep for riding around town and getting up to speed on the highway. My club takes lots of 200+ mile rides with cruising speeds averaging 60-70mph on the highways. Whatever you choose, if it's going to be your first scooter, personally, I wouldn't recommend anything less than a 150. Most people who start off with a small displacement engine soon wish they had got something with a few more horses. Good Luck! |

The GT200L wasn't available in 2003, at least not in the US. Not sure when it came out in Europe...

(The 2003 model GT200L was available outside of the U.S. and the OP is located in HK. )
I've have a 2005 and love it. It's got a nice mix of power and nimbleness. |

I ride a GT200 2005 and have also riden LX150...in reality my needs could be handled by the LX150...however, when I'm on the highway and brief time on freeway the GT200 is preferred.
Either one consider fly screen (helps @ higher end speed to reduce buffeting, top case of + storage, crash bars. FYI. It's not the scoot...it's the add on's that'll get you! Try out both and decide for yourself. |

I have a GT 200 as well, it really is a good reliable and powerful enough scooter for in city and highway use.

I have two both 2005s both excellent scooters. Piaggio usely test their bikes on the road so the first year they iron out problems, but in 2003 the gt200l came out of the box running and was bullet proof from day one. Great choice it is in my opinion the best modern scooter on the market.

I've had a S 150 (for a short time) and a GT200L. I love the GT, good speed and pickup. Comfortable and quick!

GT200 - 2003
My mechanic said it is the best example in all of Auckland (city of 1.5 million people). If the scoot you are looking at has been well looked after then go for it. ![]() |

For my money, Grigio Smokey is the way to go! (But then we are, each of us, partial to our own scooters.)

I too love my GT200 - so smooth so fine!
I had an ET4-150 and it was awesome. I suppose factors you need to consider would be: 1. Do you live in a really busy area and not take any highways? - then a 150 will suit you well - also if you're only doing short trips a 150 will generally be a little bit more convenient. 2. Or if you live in a less conjested area and plan on riding at speeds over 80kmh then a 200 will be more your thing. My GT200 is the best for awesome long rides! 150's generally have smaller bodies than 200's so make sure you get the bike that fits you better! Sometimes I think my GT200 is a bit too big for me, but I still love it to bits! |
